I had a 2020 Ran before it got totalled by someone who broadsided it while it sat in my driveway. I loved the truck but while deciding what to get next I remembered the 13 mpg the Ram got and the fact that I never towed or hauled anything more than a few cans of kerosene to heat my garage. I'm really liking the 38 mpg the Maverick is getting and in comfort.

Respectfully, I encourage you to read my post again. The focus uses the c2 platform, but each vehicle on the c2 platform varies by quite a bit. You have products that are far more car like, the focus, and to a lesser extent, the escape. Then you have rugged, more capable and stronger versions of the platform, like what the bronco sport has. Bronco sport is basically c2 version 2.0, and that's closer to what the maverick is.

I'm not against the c2 architecture at all, I think it's brilliant, and has proven to be a stellar architecture with no blatant flaws. Nor do I deny the fact that c2 started with the focus. But there are quite a few people who literally think Ford just popped a truck body onto a focus platform without realizing how much extensive engineering work went into making the maverick a strong and capable truck.

It's kinda like our other car, a 5th Gen explorer, it uses the same platform as the Tarus, but it's nothing like that car.
Well said. Being all are unibodies and all have different bodies, the structural components need to be different for each. Evidence is in the towing capacities that differ by model even with the same engine and transmission.

I haven’t met anyone who wanted to debate. Besides,it works so well for me, I don’t care what anyone else thinks.

Do you begin all of your Maverick converstions like this?

Personally, I love the white interior accents, makes the interior pop. Hate all black/grey interiors with a passion. I don't really want a earthy paint color, but a purple would be really cool. Jeep also has this like, rich cyan color that looks incredible, called Bikini blue, would love to see something like that, and maybe a proper orange. The option of having color matched interior accents would also be cool.

Have only had mine since July 2023. Not one negative interaction. My neighbors love it, 2 of them have indicated they want one.
Mostly it's been guys with full size trucks talking. They look it over and say that's nice! Then they want to checkout the interior, more positive comments.
Really no questions about fuel economy or size.
Totally agree! All positive face to face. Have sent two people to my salesman. Both ordered Mavs.

Why debate them? It's just like arguing politics with someone, you're never going to change their minds.

Tell them you understand their ignorance on the subject and their lack of knowledge in the C2 platform, it is relatively new after all. Remind them they're thinking about the C1 Focus platform that was replaced in 2018 by the new improved/stronger C2.
This new C2 structure was designed from the beginning with a light truck in mind, the Bronco Sport, Maverick and Transit Connect. The simple fact it also is used in the the 4th generation 2018 Focus was a matter of economics not design and it was adapted to work for the Focus and not the other way around. Sadly the Connect is on hold/canceled.
I don't have one yet, 24 xlt hybrid on order.

Some people have an alpha complex and want to compete with everyone else regardless.

Haters gonna hate.

I would just not engage on the topic unless they are a mechanic that actually works on them. Or just ask them to tell you about the Maverick they actually drove considering they know so much.

I don’t get a lot of hate, and it isn’t because I don’t have mine yet. I have a coworker that has a MY23 XL Hybrid, and me and other coworkers think it is great. He let me test drive it and I thought it was plenty powerful, has a big enough bed to handle my 2 acres and with 4K towing it should tow my 3200lb travel trailer just fine.
I’m sure there are people that will dog it when I get it, but I have no problem telling people my opinion.
There was a guy in Germany that last week he said over there a maverick was a GIANT TRUCK!

Mine is an XLT with the towing package I've towed with it probably a little over the 4000 lb limit but the power that the 2.0 has is more than adequate. This truck is peppier than any V-8 truck I've driven plus my V-10 Super Duty. I also like the fact I can reach things in the bed without climbing into it (I'm getting old).
I've had many comments from people mostly positive and I love it myself.

Just some things I've heard detractors say about the maverick over the course of our ownership experience.

1. It's a focus based truck. Not really, it's based on a more capable and rugged version of the c2 architecture. It resembles more of a bronco sport pickup than a focus pickup.

2. It's not unreliable/poorly built. Basically all of the widespread data we have indicates the maverick in both Ecoboost, and hybrid trim, offers above average reliability. People bring this up a lot, like everything that's more affordable is somehow less reliable long term. The opposite appears to be the case, both with Ford trucks and things like Toyota corollas/Camry's. Cheaper cars ironically seem to be built better than more expensive luxury cars, speaking as an EX BMW owner here.

3. The maverick is a real truck. It may not offer the towing capacity of full-sized trucks, but payload is very respectable, surpassing some off-road versions of things like the tundra, and Silverado zr2. It can haul and tow more than most compact trucks from the 90s, the rangers and Tacomas. You know, the trucks the same people who hate the maverick are praising. It's like "Ah the maverick isn't a real truck, now this 1997 ranger that can haul five pounds before cracking in half, now that's a real man's truck". People like that who constantly prop up every old car, and bash anything modern annoy me to no end.

Sorry for the rant, let me know what maverick myths you've had to combat with others.
Well said!

Most of the comments I get are positive. The first question they ask is if it's the hybrid? Probably because some may not be well educated and think every Maverick is a hybrid since they get more praise and you can't tell it apart visually from an Ecoboost. But I have gotten some hate. My former coworker's boyfriend called it a minivan with a bed and refused to take a look at it when she asked him. Whatever. Also, people love to make others feel small so a lot of times I'll come out to my truck just to see a full-size F-150, Ram 1500, or the HD counterparts parked right on top of me to make me feel like a pipsqueak and make them feel bigger and masculine because they hate the Maverick. Just a couple of days ago at work, I had a giant Ford F-250 Super Duty parked right next to me out of any of the empty spots on that same aisle. I know they did it on purpose. Other than that, the comments are positive, mainly from retirement age guys who want something comfortable but have the added practicality of a pickup bed, something similar to what they grew up on in the 70s, 80s, or 90s.

In the year and a half I have had my Maverick I have never had a single hateful comment about my Maverick . Last Summer I was at in & out Burger in Kingman Az when I can out there were several people around my Maverick I thought something was wrong but they all had a lot of questions about it . A gentleman with a beautiful bran new black Chevy Silverado Z71 said it was the first maverick he had seen and was going to buy on just for running around the gas milage over his Z71 and liked how much room he had in it . I have been all over the USA . Just was at a buc-ee's in Sevierville Tennessee last week and got a very nice comment on my Maverick. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👍😊😎👻

I just ignore them. Clearly the Mav haters are not worth the effort or the respect of a reply.

Glad to see most maverick owners are getting comments. I will say, our realtor loved it. I think a lot of people in Utah just have a stick shoved somewhere deep and it puts them in a rather bitter mood.
