I’ve had my 2025 Eruption Green Lariat Hybrid for about a month and a half and have noticed an issue with the dealer-installed textured hood deflector. The adhesive has turned loose on one side where there’s a dip/curve in the surface of the hood. I can press it back in place but it pops back up. Anyone else with this problem? I’m planning to reach out to the dealer to see if they can/will repair or replace. Thoughts?

It's a no brainer - return to Dealer and have it replaced. But I have no idea why the deflector would buckle like that. Mine fits the contours of the hood perfectly.

Thanks for the info. I’ll be giving them a call tomorrow.

Where I live a couple dozen small leaves would have found a way inside that small gap within a day.

When ever I was doing installs like that on my private vehicles the first thing I do is take the plastic piece and remove the 3M tape. Then I take a scotch bight pad and lightly rough the taping surface and install fresh tape. Then a generous wipe down with IPA. then reapply a new 3M tape. No one is going to spend the time to get the tape to properly adhere to the plastic.

The second thing is to properly clean and remove the wax from the vehicle

What I am seeing is the tape did not bond correctly to the hood most likely not completely wiping down the hood surface to get all the wax off the hood and dirt from the surface. Again a good cleaning of IPA then apply the plastic piece to the hood.

What are the odds ....

Just when i was thinking of putting one on ..... go figure ;)

Cheers
I think they are worthwhile, but I much prefer the AVS Bugflector 2. I don't care for the look of it, but it provides great protection, attaches underneath the hood, and leaves enough room between it and the hood to actually clean in-between.

Even if the paint wasn't prepped well and the tape had poor adhesion, I'm struggling to figure out how it's lifting off of the hood like that. I have the same protector, did a self install, and even before peeling the tape it laid flat on the hood during test fitment.

Pure speculation on my part, but I'm guessing it wasn't quite aligned with the front edge of the hood when they did the install, so they shifted the corner up after they already taped down the middle. This would cause it to lift the tape and bow in that spot.

Good news it should be an easy fix of replacing the tape, doing the proper paint prep and getting it lined up properly before peeling the tape cover.

Yep, it certainly looks rushed and should be an easy fix. Good luck..

It’s a bad install.
