Crossroads Ford of Wake Forest tried similar BS with me for a $497 surface protection package. I said that if it’s not on my order sheet then I didn’t agree to it. Also copied a state attorney on my email to them (NC is looking to pass legislation that will make these dealer scams illegal). They finally gave up trying to force it on me. Bullshit artists and con men.

It's so normal that I walked out of a dealership during the September Order books. Dealership wouldn't place my order with out them... A second dealership was wash/rinse/repeat... The third was willing to place the order without the dealer addons... but there were system issues in the final hours before the banks closed and we didn't get the order in....

So, yeah, I missed out on ordering my 23 Maverick XLT EB AWD 4K Sunroof RearSlide SIBL BAP because those two dealers said they needed me to order those extras to protect their interests when it came time to trade the truck in.

I was willing to order a few things from the dealer like mudflaps, tailgate lock, tailgate shock absorber, floor mats, etc... But nope... They insisted on that super expensive non-valued added crap (pardon my vernacular, but I cannot think of a more appropriate term); tire nitrogen, paint protection, fabric scotch gaurd, window tint (respectfully, I can have someone else tint the driver and front passenger windows cheaper than $695)..

Felt good to stand by my principes. Felt sad to miss the order banks. I have a standing pre-order with the 3rd dealership.. meaning everything is ready as soon as the order banks open. (which I'm hoping they will for at least XLT/Lariat AWD EB ... as there seems to be allotment that hasn't been taken up.

In my opinion, these are all bullshit dealer add-ons meant to pad their bottom line. All of them are worthless. Part of my initial negotiation is that frivolous dealer add-ons will not be accepted.

My dealer had a $10k window sticker when I showed up per this video below. It was not on my original order so I did not pay this.

Check with your atty but IMO basic business law tells me the dealer's order form (Offer) + your signature (Acceptance) = Contract.

A contract does not need to be 10 pages of fine print to be valid. Your Mav is specifically reserved for you under your drivers license with Ford. You have first right to buy. They want nothing more than for you to get mad and cancel because they will not only charge the next buyer for these add-ons, they will probably also add a $10k ADM! Hold your ground and tell them to remove those items. Ask for the owner to come into the room.

Don't get mad and walk. They will just tell Ford you canceled and will then have no obligation to you any more.

Think about it, what if you ordered a fancy Kitchen Aid food processor for $200 on Amazon. But when the driver delivers to your house he tells you, sorry I won't leave it unless you pay for another $100 in accessories. As crazy as this sounds that is exactly what your dealer is doing to you.
