What would you recommend for a plenty powerful, reliable jump box ?
I had this, which was in a Project Farm review as a good model, or it was exactly the same as a good model, so betting different names slapped on it. This one not available now. Maybe with another name. Never used on Maverick - but about 8 times helping others IIRC. Holds the charge great, even thru winter, and forgotten regular recharges. Has the Boost button incase battery is really dead and won't register as safe to jump. It worked.

Audew Car Jump Starter,1500A Peak 17200mAh 12V Portable Jump Starter (Up to 8L Gas or 6L Diesel Engine),Auto Battery Booster with Smart Jumper Cable,Quick Charge 3.0,Type-C,LED Flashlight

Wanted another for RAV4 that will be sons. But since above not available and I didn't want to look thru tons of pictures for the same, found an about equal spec model, with no real bad reviews besides people that can't read instructions, but since a tad below a spec on like max charge or something, this is for Mav now that requires little to nothing. Not used yet. Wasn't the cheapest for the spec, but not near the most expensive either.

NEXPOW Car Jump Starter Car Battery Jump Starter Pack 1500A Peak Q10S for Up to 7.0L Gas and 5.5L Diesel Engine12V Auto Battery Booster,Jumper Cables Portable Lithium Jump Box with LED Light/USB QC3.0

Decision in both cases was price. Project Farm had higher rated ones (not NoCo back then interestingly), but I went down chart by price until my thriftiness was satisfied.

I guess all of them are really power banks - big ones. Just with special port/adapter/loading ability to handle a car system.
So I like both of those for ability for 3A charge thru USB ports.
I'll have to weigh them out for long backpacking trips - if useful to take. (of course that means I'll drain it - and return back to vehicle with a dead battery!)
And hey - compass!

Actually - the carrying case that came with the 1st is nice, no case on 2nd so annoying.

Am I reading this all correct and my Lariat Hybrid built 6/23/25 will (does) have this problem? This won’t play well if it happens when wife driving somewhere alone.
Just keep an eye out for ford ap saying low battery OR if dome lights stop. Then throw a charger on 12 volt. Connect under hood at Jump points. Let it charge for 6 or so hours. YES a pain in the but t. But you wont have any issue of not starting if you do that.

My 2023 is just two year old now. I did just last week have dealer replace battery and do service bulletin supposed to fix this . BUT like I said you can keep it going if you take the time to charge 12 volt once in a while. Granted this should NOT be needed.

Get yourself a new AGM battery and save yourself any further hassles and inconveniences fooling around with the OEM battery. I (and many other hybrid owners) had many deep sleep and dead battery problems to the point of taking up most our time trying to "fix" it with trickle chargers, pulling fuses, etc. Waste of time and effort. Since I replaced the wet cell battery with the AGM, I've had zero electrical/start up issues. Here's a link to the Amazon page that has the battery that will fit your Maverick. Install is super easy and requires no modification.

I agree Dad. Went through the original wet battery 6 weeks after I got the truck brand new. Bought another wet battery, it lasted barely 2 months. I installed an AGM May 11th, 2024..............no dead battery since!!

FVP 48AGMG from Menards. Original battery is 9" long where as the new one is 11' long. They checked the listing before it left the store, I think the clerk couldn't read. The dealers bringing truck out tomorrow.
Update, dealer installed Ford battery BXT 99RT4 I checked listings and it appears to be standard type.

Yep, that is the standard stock lead acid garbage.

That's what is so great about the MTC. Some of us had to learn in the school of hard knocks, but at least we can pass that experience on to others so they can benefit. Glad to hear you were able to put your battery issues to rest.

Should I be worried about battery failure with my '25 LOBO, or is this just a hybrid thing?
The hybrids seemed to have the most problems with deep sleep and inability to start. It's worth noting that Ford switch over to the AGM battery in its 2025 Maverick lineup. At least you now know that if you do start having those issues with your wet cell, you have a solution in pocket.

Thanks for the info. My battery lists at 760 CCA, "non-spoilable lead acid" battery, no caps on tom like the old batteries. So I don't think it' I have an AGM battery.

The part# on the top label for the Motorcraft AGM battery starts with "BAGM-"
BTW, the CCA number is entirely useless on the Hybrid, and the reserve capacity in AH is the number that you need to see.

Question, would jumping another battery directly to the battery get it started?
yep - indeed does imply internal damage... can at least pull the battery and take it to O'reillys or where ever have them put it on their diagnostic and get that verified but yeah a new battery is the way to go.
Isn't it also true that you shouldn't jump a hybrid from battery to battery and that's why there are posts under the hood to hook up to? I seem to remember seeing / hearing it was bad idea to do it especially if it's the hybrid doing the jumping.

Thanks, I'll check the part number. In my experience AGM batteries can last up to 4x longer.

The BMS does not read the actual battery charge state, and instead only keeps track of how much energy goes in and out of the battery. If you bypass the BMS sensor attached to the -ve post of the battery, the computer loses the actual state of charge and will make wrong assumptions and not charge properly.
You could either put your cable on the far side of the BMS sensor or on the underhood posts and the claim is that the BMS can then track that. Since the BMS does such a poor job of getting the battery up to the proper level, I have very poor confidence that it will do that properly. So, after you have topped up the battery to a real full charge and not the ultra-low 70% charge that the BMS always stops it at, reset the BMS state by performing the magic incantation: turning the ignition on with engine still off, flashing the highbeams 5 times followed by pressing the brake pedal 3 times and waiting for the battery indicator on the dash to flash, all within 10 seconds.

I have seen several post about not being able to start the truck while in Deep Sleep. I have to admit that mine has always started from deep sleep since it is the hybrid battery that starts the electric motor first. The only way I assume I would have problems is if I would try to use the remote start from the app which I have never done. The remote features were always disabled on the app when the truck is in deep sleep. I do know that my original battery that was replace was made in Spain. The replacement was made in Mexico.

The 12V battery runs the electronics, and does not start the engine. Without the electronics operating correctly, the engine cannot be started buy the high-voltage battery. So, you need both batteries to be charged to start the engine.
