Got a message in the middle of the night that remote features were disabled on my 2022 Hybrid. This has happened before but it’s always started right up. This time nothing. I had to jump it. Got it to the dealer and a battery test showed the voltage was good at 12.4 but the CCA was at only 224 when it is rated at 760. It’s hard to complain when I have 77,000 miles on my 2022. My only concern is this is something else and not just a battery issue. I’ve already had the wire harness recall. Does this sound like just a typical old battery or should I be keeping an eye on it?

It could have been just an old battery 3 years is early though. The deep sleep issue does have a fix. Software update. I would see if they can do that for you. It’s a ssm. I had mine done a week ago and it’s going strong. I also dos have the perimeter plus security system installed. It gives you the option to remote start using factory fob. (Lock unlock lock) and it turns on. The day I went and had it installed the update was released. Went to shop to have battery check and replaced for the 3rd in 2 months so I decided to pull the trigger and get the system. Kinda wish they would have informed the update came out that morning would have saved me $400. Part is 255. But I do like using it. It is 100x faster then starting using app. It’s instant after I do the combo on fob.

It's now a typical old battery early because it's had three years and 77k miles of improper charging conditions. You will probably replace it, but get Ford's SSM. If you're lucky, they might even provide a new battery. I doubt it as you're out of warranty. The SSM may help, but may not be the final solution to a problem that drains down the battery too. You have obviously driven yours enough to keep that from happening sooner.

Your 760 CCA rating sounds pretty high for a stock flooded H4. Those typically run closer to 480. Still, the test at 224 CCA shows your battery is definitely SOL. Anything less than about 80% of rating means you have months left, and a 60% test means you're about to get stuck at the grocery store. Ford recently released a probable fix for the battery problem in SSM 53801, where they reprogram the HVAC unit (drains battery if AC was on when you park) and also test the battery. This may be great timing for you if act quickly. You might luck out and get one for free. 🤞

I'm trying to get scheduled for that too. In the meantime, I just turn off my AC before parking!
People have reported good luck replacing their stock battery with AGM versions. One candidate is the UPLUS Group 140R/H4/LN1 (#AGM-L50-UP; 50AH, 570CCA, 120RC, $140 in 12/24) sold by Amazon (#B0CM3KNG1H). A more expensive alternate sold by Advance Auto Parts ($216 in 12/24) is the DieHard EV (AGM) Battery (H4 Group Size, 570 CCA, 710 CA, 80 min Res). The SSM update may reduce the benefits of an AGM over the flooded type, but I guess only time will tell.

The SSM says that the HVAC module update "may" stop a parasitic current drain. The SSM did not state that it was "the" solution to the deep sleep problem.

Still worth getting it done.

Well, took the Maverick in for the second set of recalls (back up camera, windshield wiper, seat belt). Told dealer battery drains, goes into sleep, needs to be jumped time to time (maybe), and can’t use any of the remote tools like if my kid wanted to find my car, they couldn’t. I thought it was worth a shot reading so many disappointing stories about the battery. They tested and found “battery load test battery fails final voltage”, replaced it with a new
BXT-99RT4-A (470 CCA) model. I’ve been using ChatGPT lately and in my mid 50s, I didn’t want to, now I’m hooked at how amazing it is. So I searched the battery for the 2023 Maverick and it says this. 😳🤔 at least I got a new battery to see how it goes. Old one went 19 months and didn’t have the horror stories I have read. Good luck to all on their battery issues.

The CCA number on the battery is for a starter, and is completely irrelevant for the Hybrid model. The reserve capacity number is the important one. The difference in reserve capacity between the original efl, the replacement efl and the agm batteries is only about 15%. The only reason that people are going to agm batteries is because it is somewhat more resistant to sulphation damage, but is otherwise not much of an improvement in reserve capacity. For around twice the price for the agm one, I'll stick with an efl battery.
While we now have a fix for the a/c error that was rapidly depleting the batteries, we're still waiting for a proper BMS fix, that gives 10x as much charging current for at least the first 20 minutes. Ford, where is it?

I’m surprised that people don’t turn off the AC when they park. My dad made sure that was drilled into my head when I was a kid that turning off the AC when parking is a must! 😆

It's rediculous if it's true that Ford engineers designed the air conditioner to function at all when the vehicle is turned off. It would take a special kind of stupidity for the engineers to do so. With all the other stupid things they have done, however, I can believe it.

AC will not run when vehicle is off.

In the hybrid, a/c will only function if the ignition is turned on/ready. If parked, it will run for several minutes using the HV battery. Once the HV battery drops below certain charge level, the gasoline engine will come on to charge the battery.
