I found a very nice slip in on Amazon. Search for For Maverick parts. This one slips in and expands to the entire indention and not just in the small area.

I had a friend whose Volvo ended up with $400 broken side window for about $2.50 in loose change. With $500 deductible.

I’ve seen many inserts of one type or another, but none with a cover or lid. I am referring to the space ABOVE the entertainment center, not the ubiquitous space next to it. Does anybody know of a maker or if you’re able/capable, could you make one?

Reason: that “bin” has become a convenient place to throw extra change and why tempt someone walking by?

I used that space to put my GPS. I cut a piece of Styrofoam to fit tight & hollowed out room to fit the holder. Then I used black duct tape to hold it on tight & make it all black.

If that Volvo was hit hard enough to cause $2.50 in change to break a side window. I guarantee there was over $500 in total vehicle damage.

Yeah, I can see that happening.
I mistakenly thought you were referring to change flying around the interior in an accident.
Either way it sucks.

I really like your idea, but not because of change, (I have a center console organizer for that)
I like the idea because it could act as a sun shield for my Mabett insert, which I have put into that dash storage area. My first thought is to cut something out of bolsa/basswood that will fit into the top of the insert, creating a "lid" of sorts. This is just what popped into my tiny brain. If anyone else can comment and expand on this idea, I would welcome it.
