Yall really think this thing is totaled??
it most likely wont be totalled, damage doesn't look too bad, but honestly it being a new car and now having a crash history its gonna be worth a lot less, and since its gonna take so long to get parts and the poor guy is still making payments on it while its just sitting there, he should definitely fight for it to just be totalled out so he can go buy a new truck...

Moral of the story.....

The FX4 is NOT an off road vehicle. 🤣

On a serious note, what a bummer. After waiting and anticipating delivery of your new truck, your d**khead hill jack cousin goes out hickin' and destroys YOUR truck. I just can't......

Actually I add him to car insurance policy since he lives with me but last night after I was sleeping he took the key and went out to drive off road but unfortunately he drove on a private property and got the tire blown up by barbed wires . He got arrested and got two tickets for reckless driving and the other one is for driving off road on private property.
That's not even close to what he would have gotten from me if that was my truck. Jail would have been the only safe place for him.

I trust no one with our cars except for wife but she'll never drive a truck.

I don't even trust dropping my vehicles off for repairs and try to do most work myself if I can.

The more I look at this, the more I get the feeling that this was just an insurance stunt.

I don't know a single person that would add their cousin to the insurance and then the vehicle suddenly gets heavily damaged by said cousin.. seems fishy to me. Hope your insurance company is easy to work with and proves to be less suspicious than I.
If the cousin lives in the same home, I believe it is law that they (anybody with a driver's license) have to be on the car insurance. I know for a fact it is the case in Utah; my insurance company contacted me when my sister briefly moved in with us even though she did not have access to a motor vehicle.

I'm curious what the insurance guys come back with. I wonder the extent of the damage (it shouldn't be THAT bad if he really was just romping around in the neighbor's yard), and I'm curious about how long the wait will be to get replacement parts, if that's the route you end up going.

also is there a reason people looking for parts don't just go the DM route?

It would be a weird insurance stunt. What would be the point? They are going to have to pay a deductible so they wouldn’t be making a profit. I guess they could take the check for the cost of repairs and pocket it, if they own the vehicle outright, otherwise the lien holder might have something to say. And even then they are going to net a few grand and have no bumper, a damaged right front panel, and who knows what else that they will have to live with, repair, or try and recoup via sale. They are also liable for damage to someone else personal property and can’t try and make bogus money on fake injuries. If it is a stunt, it is a stupid one.

Do car dealerships really just let people test drive the vehicle you built and ordered it before the sell it to you? I don't want someone else to drive my Lariat before me . I'll definitely get to my dealership the same day the car is delivered.
The irony of this quote from last month (different thread) is truly tragic. But hopefully you at least got to drive it before your cousin's joy ride.
