My only real complaint about my Maverick is the key fob. I've had vehicles with key fobs for years with no issues. With my Maverick fob I've managed to hit the alarm button 4 times in 4 months by accident. In the previous couple of decades and multiple vehicles I've only had it happen once. Petty complaint and I'm glad I have so few although I had the engine shuddering thing again today. Only the second time for that to happen and the first time the weather was frigid. At least it is easy to correct. Back off the throttle and then reapply, problem gone. Happened both times at the same location. Shortly after startup, going down hill, turn and begin uphill climb. It's at a stop sign but I'm not stopping fully. Almost but not quite a dead stop.

I should add I have a Lariat Hybrid, no lux.

Where I live that is called a Georgia Rolling Stop. Not sure what it is called in New Mexico, but it is likely frowned upon by the law enforcement!! 🙂

Waiting to get a fob so I can encounter the problem.

Frowned on here too! I find I've been doing it less often as I'm always checking the brake coach which requires a full stop to see your score.

To the key fob, I have no issues (Lariat FE).

Regarding the shuttering, I ignore it since it only happens occasionally when first driving.
Feels like the eCVT engagement, not 2.5L engine. Not sure what you are talking about in the 2nd part of your message but hope this answers your question.

My complaint on the key fob is that it's always opening in my front pocket. I wouldn't care except that it's so damn fragile and about $300 to replace.

Key fob solution:

XL/XLT:

Lariat:

There are also many different silicone versions of both styles available. I have both for my Explorer and Bronco with no issues.

I’ve done the same thing several times. The last time I was putting my wife’s car away and that it was her car so I pressed her alarm button and fir a minute there I had both vehicles whaling. 😂🤣

Hey, but I live in the country so biggie. 😊

My problem with my XLT key fob is the key keeps flipping open in my pocket 😠
Key problems? I leave my fip fob open so I can tell it from my lariat fob. Don't need anything on my honda key as it's thinner than my maverick keys. I have my 3 walk door keys on a ring with an oval plastic flex tab to allow me to feel those keys in my pocket. And my 4 padlock keys and 2 trailer hitch retainer pin keys are together on a lighter weight ring than my walk door keys so I can pick them out of my pocket by feel when I want them. I no longer carry change in my pocket as it winds up on bottom and it's too hard to sort out the correct amount when the checkout kid wants something like 0.37. I am thinking I may want to get a dog tag chain for my lariat proximity key and wear it around my neck.

Yep, I have hit the panic button by accident as well. Aside from that, there is absolutely no valid reason this key fob needs to be this enormous. It is unwieldy.

Key FOB. Why do you even remove it? Leave it in the vehicle and use the provided keypad on the door. Remote start? use the app. And for those that say someone can steal your vehicle, guess what, they can steal it without it so there is no difference.

I actually do this frequently but not every time.
