Hello
Almost everytime someone discusses lifting their truck someone else will always doomscroll with "congrats on ruining your cv joint" or something similar.
The snarkiness aside, this is a site for non-gearheads like myself to find out how to avoid those problems. So instead of predicting failure I would like to see what is the solution to the cv joint problem? There are enough true gearheads onhere that I know the solution is workable.

What is it?

The solution is Ford providing redesigned CV axles that don't fail prematurely. I think there's a thread somewhere reporting that Ford did redesign them for 2025.

I have a 24 tremor 3" total lift & 255/70/17 tires on Reika wheels & have had to replace cv/axles twice, they are of inferior design/quality, if you lift/level any at all you will have failure due to the poor design/quality. I have since had the originals rebuilt by cvj in Colorado but haven't installed them yet. They have different boot/grease options & I hope they will be more durable.

The solution was tremor axles to replace the basic ones that keep crapping the bed.

My tremor axles were no good either. Not sure if the national backorder was for them to redesign or not. I haven't received the last set I ordered as of yet.

I ordered a set of the regular ones just to have on standby and even those were on back order for about a month and a half.

I had my left side replaced two days ago. When I told the service advisor (who owns a Mav) that I believed the problem was the CV axle he said that issue is usually caused by "lifting" the vehicle. He was surprised to find out that mine was broken and I did not lift my truck

Sounds like the SA hasn’t owned his Mav for too long or doesn’t know anything but what he’s fed at the dealership.

I put a 1 inch leveling kit on my hybrid; and the cv-axles went out about 20,000 miles later. Ford wouldn't replace them under warranty because of the lift kit. I don't know if the axles went out because of the lift kit, or simply because of garbage Ford axles; there's not really any way of knowing. Most/all of the local mechanics I talked to were pretty skeptical that an only 1 inch lift by itself would have caused it...
