How deep did you cut the dados?

It might end up making the design a bit too far off, but you could go a different direction and cut slots 100% through the board and halfway down, then cut a corresponding rabbit in the separators to slot into those. That'd be a "simpler" set of cuts, but like the OP said, enough time and patience and you can simulate a dado stack with a bunch of passes with another spinning blade. A very typical technique is to do a handful of passes with a table saw or circular saw and then chisel the remaining wood out for joinery.Thanks for sharing. This is an awesome idea. I am currently using a 2x6 that is a bit cumbersome to lift in and out. The hinge makes it more practical. For those of us that don’t have dado capabilities, I am wondering if using lattice strips tacked to the 2x6 or such with glue and brad nails at the same distances would yield the same results.
