Hey all,
Ive built a custom bed rack and Ive been looking at the lighting options currently offered for our truck. Ive seen the F150 LEDS spartan cube lights but i question if id be better off with a 30" LED bar from rough country.

My question is: is it possible to EASILY hook up an LED bar through the rear 12V plug in the bed and hook it up to a wireless remote for when it is needed? If so that would be awesome and easy to wire for mounting on the bedrack.

Remote control:

LED Bar:

Im open to suggestions, the possibility of putting 2x 6" led bars on each end of the top on the rack could be a sick option aswell. The rack is 0.5" taller then the roof on the left and right ends

Also if i have enough interest may build more rqcks for sale on this site in limited quantities.

Depends on your definition of 'as needed'. The bed 12V outlets aren't powered all the time, only when the key is on and for a period of time afterwards. If you want to be able to turn them on any time you would need to run a dedicated 12V always hot.

Nice rack. You could definitely sell some of those.

I do alot of driving in the early morning and late night. I live in a heavily forested area and have almost hit a few deer this year . My hope was to be able to turn on the light bar with the remote while driving when needed. Avoid drilling anything or complicated wiring set ups. Hence the idea that perhaps the set up ford gives us in the back might work

From what I have read on this forum, the 12 volt wiring in the bed is ignition on or accessory on power. Not sure wireless is a benefit, otherwise if the led bar runs off 12 volts and draws less than 20 amps, it will work. There is a diy video from Ford that shows how to access the wiring as you may already know.
