Hey there any chance of under hood photo and wiring ? I know you said you've been busy hope life is swell
Cheers
Hey! Sorry it took so long. I ended up ordering some 1/4 split loom and some half inch zip tie mounts for the hood and realized that I don’t have any more butt splices. So I can’t hook up the wires. I’ve attached photos below. If you attach to the drivers side headlight, it’ll be the BROWN with light blue stripe. I ran mine on the passenger side which is the LIGHT BLUE with brown stripe. It doesn’t matter which side.

I also didn’t put a fuse in the wire. It’s LED So it barely has and pull. If it burns up the LED eventually, I’ll just replace them. Not a big deal

I have an XL, so no upper running lights like the lariat. I thought about drilling into the headlights, But how they are shaped, it would be hard to get bulbs in there because of how the grille is put in.

I ended up getting amber lights off of Amazon and used 10lb gorilla tape and attached it to the underside of the hood. You’ll notice that it’s about 2 inches in on either side of the hood. That is because the plastic sleeve where the wires attach to the strip doesn’t bend very well. I ran the wires down the hood and back to the passengers headlight. Pretty happy with the result. I’m planning on getting some ditch lights to match.

Am I the only one who thinks it would be illegal with that on while driving? I know it's amber but it sure looks close to being red in the pictures. Isn't there some law reserving red and blue lights for law enforcement/emergency vehicles only?

Blue lights yes.

I think most cars have red lights on them... At least at the back.

Having liked what Bigronron and thyITguy did, here is a hood leading edge in blue LEDs on a VB- XLT. My parts were a little different, but the effect is similar. Parts list are on the .doc files. One each LED string for 1/2 the hood is wired to each headlight so they pull only 0.5 amps each or about 6 watts per circuit. The IP-67-85 spec means the LED string is water proof and suitable for outside use. The strings run on 12vDC so no need for a LED driver. Blue lighting is very subdued in daylight.
