I think you have it exactly right. Some dealers screwed up and it hurt customers.
But it will be a way for Ford to identify "rear" retail orders, and may be beneficial.

I thought all orders this go round HAD to have an accompanying drivers license, to prove it was tied to a real person. Is that maybe why the covp is essentially unnecessary?

how do you get the dealers proof they actually did the covp vs them just telling you ?
the 800 number will not tell you if they did. ( so f'd up )

so I asked my dealer, they didn’t seem to know. But I told myself,“have faith, they’ve been selling mavericks”

but now it’s my understanding that if COVP wasn’t completed on your MY22 order, you won’t receive a private offer? Is this correct? So how do I find out if it was completed or not?

@fordvideoguy, I put an order in with Long McArthur. Grace is handling it. She said that she can’t find a private offer for me. I called the 800 number and they said that once my order is converted into a 23 it’ll generate a private offer for me to the dealer. But in your video you stated that there is no conversion process. That MY22 order holders simply put in a new order and it’s up to the dealer to prioritize those orders over new ones… I’m so confused and frustrated.
If my original dealer can’t tell me if COVP was done, how am I to know if I’m getting the private offer. $2750 is a substantial amount

I placed my order yesterday (actually went through today) and when I did they said the covp was no longer required so they never did it. I have heard that without one your order may not be prioritized with the others. Just looking for clarification.

I just ordered (2) Mavs at my Ford dealer. They did ask for a license from both my and the misses but the forms I was given don't say anything about COVP. I will email my salesperson and ask them about it I guess.

I didn't receive any COVP, but I also haven't received a confirmation email from Ford yet about my order. Only something from their dealer system.

My salesperson said I might not get that email for another month... Is that normal?

I only ordered a few hours ago so it might not be fully entered into the system, but what were your experiences with time between ordering with the dealer and receiving an email directly from Ford?

The dealer did take my driver license, email, phone #, address, etc but said that a covp wasn't necessary. Maybe those things are in lieu of a covp?

Same of this end. My dealer said once the order is placed, he will send something I need to docu-sign and send back and then we are good to go. I plan on double checking on the COVP as well.

Still no joy on the ordering end. Now, it will be Monday at the soonest. At this rate I will be an old man before I get my Maverick. Oh, wait a minute...........

If you received the private offer it can be looked up the the smart Vincent certificate inquiry by any dealer. If it isn't showing it, more than likely your previous dealer didn't do the COVP.

FWIW my dealer told me COVP is still required for their Maverick orders and if I got the confirmed email from Ford that means Ford accepted it.

Sounds like - to state the obvious - there has been some confusion this year.

Larson Ford made a copy of my drivers license Saturday. Didn’t ask for a deposit. Signed paperwork and have received a confirmation email from Ford corporate.
