Hello!

I am currently on a road trip vacation in Oregon, (I’m from Alberta, Canada) and coincidentally my FX4Mav has decided to purge itself of all the coolant and has subsequently left me stranded here just south of sisters, I have it schedule with my roadside assistance to get into a shop on Tuesday (after the long weekend) to get looked at but I was wondering if it’s the coolant plug simply come loose on me, so I go about trying to find the plug and no luck, I can’t even get a good look at it cause the huge plastic front lower trim piece, that being said if I knew where I was looking maybe I could feel my way around in there and find it to check if it’s loose, does anyone have any idea where the drain plug for the coolant system is located? On which side of the rad and how to access it easiest? I have the front little skid plate piece off and can get a decent visual with my big fat head I just don’t know where I’m looking and there is a big piece of foam or sponge or something at the bottom that I don’t really want to try pulling on taking out unless I know I’m gonna find what I’m looking for!

Anyone have any insight into this?

You would have to fill the radiator and pressure test the system to get a better idea where the leak is. Or fill it and run the engine. You might as well wait and let a trained technician take a look at it.:)

Oh I can’t even fill the reservoir without it instantly draining which is why I think it’s just the drain plug, it is going to be towed to Kendall ford here in Bend after the long weekend I was just thinking if I could save myself some time and figure it out that would be nice but I don’t think I’m finding the plug anywhere easily that or I’m completely blind lol

I can see my drain petcock looking down on driver's side. It has the drain tube sticking out on side of it.
It's next to the big charge air cooler tube. Looks to be up above the foam you saw from below
Mine has red marker on it from factory to show they checked it.

Hmm well if that is the drain plug then mine is on nice and tight still which means something more serious must be going on down there! To the professionals it shall remain!

Do you have the block heater option? I seem to recall early in the MY22 builds there was a few reports of them leaking

I do have the block heater, but I’m at 19000kms right now so like 12000 miles and all of a sudden it’s just all leaking out and when I put water in to identify a leak it just pours from seemingly everywhere so that didn’t do much for me haha

I so feel your pain. Back in the day I had a 93 Mazda RX7 R1. One day on the interstate the hot engine light came on. Turns out a deliberately sacrificial plug in the water pump had exited the engine. Not knowing that I drove 15 seconds to the exit gas station and refilled the coolant - only to watch it collect beneath the car. Called the tow truck and got it to the dealership. New water pump. Old one back to Mazda for diagnostics. I wrote it down under the category: "S--- happens."

I still remember clueless me looking at the growing puddle of green coolant appearing at my feet as I poured new coolant into the filler. Doh!
