  • two feet shorter - I hate oversized vehicles. Also, I'd love something with a smaller snout. If there's no engine up there, there's no need for a 5 foot long hood. Five me a mini-hood like a minivan or something.
Do not underestimate the value of a decent crumple zone.

fully enclosed bed attached to the cabin with a third row of seats and a hatch in the back to access space behind the last row of seats.
Removable rear bench seats that can also retract into the floor.
Standing height inside the cab.
And maintain the 45mpg.

or:
full EV with range extender
Android radio (easily user-customizable without paying Ford extra $)
2dr 6' bed option
Sounds like you want an SUV not a pick up

A lot of these were on my Avalanche! Seat memory, power passenger seat, fold flat rear seat, mid gate for bed pass through, auto tinting rear view and side mirrors, and outside mirrors that tilt down when you shift into reverse.

Since most of us have been driving for decades we've all owned or rented our fair share of different vehicles. I was just wondering what features your older cars had that never became common place but wish you had on your Mav. My 2 examples are from the 90s. My Passat had a lock button on the key fob that would, if you held it down, roll up the windows and close the sunroof. Second is from a Mazda 626 that had a "sweep" button on the hvac controls. It would move all the vents side to side like floor fan. Just curious what you all remember.
Well, since you asked:
1. Passenger side power seat and memory button for both front seats.
2. Button on the FOB to roll down all four windows while walking toward the truck on a very hot day.
3. Raise the top of the cab by 1" to help a tall driver with a fused back get in and out easier.
4. Option to go with either a dial shifter or a stick shifter when ordering a new truck.
5. Fog lights.
6. More powerful back-up light.
7. Grab bar above the driver's door.
8. Optional fold-up step for the right rear passenger door to help older dogs get in and out of the back seat.
9. Move the infotainment screen an inch or more toward the driver.
10. Move the glove box release an inch to the left for easier driver access.
11. Add a rear window defroster.

All that said, I love my '25 Lariat Hybrid w/Black Pack on carbon grey paint, moon roof, 4K tow, surround cameras, comfy seats, power rear window (dogs love it), Bulletpoint phone mount, and B&O sound system. And I really love getting up to 600 miles on a tank with up to 49mpg around town and 38.5mpg on long road trips when it's just me and the Commander in Chief of Munks Forces in the Pacific (CINCMUNKSFORPAC) making runs around the once great state of California.

Items that were standard on my '19 Ranger Lariat that were either not standard or not supported on my Maverick Lariat, to include: Fog lights, keypad entry, rear window defroster, power passenger seat, power retractable/opening sideview mirrors, garage door openers (I need 3), and self-dimming rearview mirror.
Your Lariat doesn't have keypad entry? My 22 does. Maybe they did away with it. Some people love it. I personally don't understand the need. I can unlock my Mav from anywhere with the app.

I'm way outside the Maverick mainstream, so my wish list is totally not gonna resonate...

  • electric (coming late 2027 from Ford, maybe with another name)
  • two door, preferably with a frunk and a small extended cab
  • two feet shorter - I hate oversized vehicles. Also, I'd love something with a smaller snout. If there's no engine up there, there's no need for a 5 foot long hood. Five me a mini-hood like a minivan or something.
  • All the stuff coming on the new Ford BEV truck - zonal architecture, gigacastings, etc. I like intelligent engineering.
  • Eyes off self-driving, as I'm an aging Boomer with declining abilities. Hint: all Boomers have declining abilities, it's just that some are in denial.
  • All the bells and whistles. The luxury package and AWD were the best money I ever spent.
Next truck for me, which is a few years away (only 37,500 miles on my reliable 2022 ecoboost) will probably be the new Ford BEV, or a Rivian R2 if they ship it, and remotely possibly a Telo. Slate is off the list - too spartan and crude for my taste.

You know what I would love, but nobody will ever make it, and it's probably a really dumb idea anyway. A bed that has a fixed cap over the half near the cab, and a minivan-like sliding cover that will roll itself back to cover the other half with a button push. A power bed cap of sorts.
That is a really cool aftermarket idea. You should get a prototype going and pitch the idea.

I would like it if when I have the windows down and I get out, if I lock the car and enable the alarm the windows would automatically close. A friend's Hyundai does that. He just gets out locks the car and all the windows closed and the alarm activated.

Amen to that. (y)

A transmission dipstick is an underrated feature too.

Being able to easily shift into neutral with the engine off without having to remove the airbox and use a special tool is another I can think of. Hey, but at least the little tool is included, right?!
yes to the dipstick

Is there a way in the Hybrid to physically disconnect the hybrid high voltage battery? It's easy enough to disconnect the 12V battery at its terminals, but I don't know if there's a way to physically disconnect the HV battery as well (at least without a bunch of disassembly)?
There are quick disconnects for safety.
Someone with 1st responders way back posted about the database of those per ev/hybrid vehicles available to them for emergencies.
That database has gotta be getting huge - wonder if it's quick & easy to use.

Mechanics of course can get the info too - but since they have to pay for so much info per brand or vehicle now just depending - wondering how many independent shops bother to pay to find out, or just reject working on certain items on certain vehicles, or risk it.

I don't have access to the service manual right now - but the disconnect under the hood, always wondered if that really stopped the flow only right there, or caused it to somehow disconnect closer to HVB so the whole orange wire is de-energized coming from it, which the relay already does.

Anyway, from owner's manual - they don't want you near the disconnects.

Always:
  • Call emergency assistance if needed and advise that an electric or hybrid-electric vehicle is involved.
  • Avoid contact with leaking fluids and gases, and remain out of the way of oncoming traffic until emergency responders arrive.
  • When emergency responders arrive, tell them that the vehicle involved is an electric vehicle or hybrid-electric vehicle.

A six speed manual transmission with close ratio through forth and an overdrive fifth and sixth gear.

Ehhhh - if your cell phone has network, and the truck has AT&T network. Fine and dandy.
And your truck battery hasn't dropped too low.
Any one of those 3 not in place - you ain't gettin in so easily.
