Hopefully Ford will dissect your truck to help figure out a fix to this serious problem instead of reselling it!

If they find the fix - they should recall any potentially defective vehicles…
Unfortunately that's not going to happen. That was exactly one of my demands that Ford Consumer Affairs rejected. And the dealer says it's fixed now. For the sake of the next owner, I hope it is fixed. But for the sake of everyone else driving without the repair, I wish they would take a closer look.

Here's that thread where I was going to turn key to accessory while moving to test no power steering or brakes.

Nope - system threw itself into Park going under 5 mph.

Maybe if I went faster it wouldn't do that?
Not going to test it.
Honestly, I'm still confused what happened. It was very sudden and the brakes were immediately jammed as soon as the electric cut. I didn't have any pumps left in brake. So yeah, I'm not really sure how you would replicate it :(

Wanted to give you all an update. No good news unfortunately... as some of you guessed. Ford Consumer Affairs is a joke; they accomplished exactly nothing except burning 2 months of my time. The dealer serviced the hybrid harness TSB (that needs to be a recall if it can turn your vehicle into a coffin at highway speed). So they charged me $2,600 to service that TSB, because it only qualifies under the hybrid components warranty in California or something.
Sounds like a really bad experience all around.

Don't mean to add salt to the wound, but IIRC the TSB you had performed was the early (and now perhaps current) repair for a detached 12v eyelet at the fuse box junction. Ford had a no charge customer satisfaction initiative, for a period of time, for the affected units that involved a "cable overlay" to remedy this. The sad part being that this failure didn't cause vehicles to lose power while moving like you experienced, simply a "no crank/no start" condition. The dealer should have known this and looked elsewhere for the failure, it's most likely still there waiting for the next unfortunate owner.

Cheers.

Not pouring salt on any wounds here, but I think I made the right 50/50 choice when I opted to special order my EcoBoost in ‘24, instead of the hybrid. (Cause I know nothing about hybrids). 🫣

Nah, the idea wasn't to replicate your issue, though it would get close - just get a feel for how no power brakes/steering felt compared to prior vehicles where I always tested that.

But I am going to have my son get a feel in the RAV4, always nice to know what you could experience.

Got news for you, your EB also uses an ABS module to control the brakes, nothing has been by wire for a long time. ;)

Thank-you fellow Canadian & British Columbian! I do know that, it’s just that I’ve been here on MTC(love it) for one and a half years and from my experience reading posts here it seems the “HYBRIDS” have a ‘few’ more problems than the Eco’s! As I mentioned before, NOT trying to start anything!!! Can we please leave it at that? Or…..😉

Hard to believe, very hard.

Ford should be all over this. Like recall all the Hybrids.

But the EB does not have Electronic Brake Booster like hybrid does (ETA:unless trim with ACC/S&G) - still good ole vacuum - get that one last good press out of it with power.

But did the 25/26MY finally get EBB on the EB's, or still vacuum assist?

Brake Booster

Ecoboost = One drive system,
Hybrid = TWO drive systems,

A ‘Few’ more problems, I can understand that.

Ok, here's the last thing I have on this issue!

I used the BBB and Ford finally just reimbursed me for the repair (no clue why their Consumer Affairs department said they couldn't do that). Then I promptly sold the truck back to the dealer this week and explained why I was selling it to several people over there. And they listed it already if anyone wants to buy it lol!!!

Hoping the issue doesn't happen again to the next unsuspecting owner or anyone else out there who hasn't had that TSB serviced if that was the real issue. It's a real shame Ford never did anything to investigate. I have a Subaru now.
