I don’t doubt at all that Toyota could slap a truck body on the RAV4 pretty quick and get it to market. The issue is the RAV4 is made in Kentucky vs Mexico for the Maverick. I think they are looking at how they can make a profit in the current environment. Getting the truck designed would be the easy part, finding a factory to make it price competitive is another issue.

Whatever happens, others will definitely join this market, and they'll be giving a lot of time to Ford and (Hyundai...remember the Santa Cruz?) to dominate sales while they figure their stuff out.

I would be pretty amazed if any other manufacturer had a comparable truck available before the 2025 MY.
Also, why do I imagine they will all look crappy like the santa cruz?

It wont steal much if any buisness away from Ford. Toyota people are some of the loyalest, head in the sand, value inflating, laughing off any thing else customers ever. It will mostly only take buisness away from Tacomas, with people that realize they have gotten too big.

This channel has been posted here quite a few times. I’ve learned the “V” logo thing in the top corner is the sign that it’s garbage and to not waste my time.

Because the whole world thinks in "trendy" these days and not "practical"

If Toyota comes out with a hybrid pickup 4x4 a little bigger than the Maverick smaller than the Tacoma I will seriously look at it as it will probably be my last truck I buy I had a 1985 SR5 four-wheel drive short bed Toyota I ran that thing all over Southern California Arizona Nevada Utah and all the deserts and all the national parks sunk the thing three different times in underground Rivers and one deep River in the San Bernardino mountains pulled a full cabover camper with it in that truck never and I repeat never let me down im 66 years old have had more pickups than I can count and by far and my wife agrees with me of 43 years that was the best pic we ever had and that's a fact Jack 👍🙂

They are not what they used to be. I've towed a couple modern ones with my old junk. Some small issues and one with a fully blown motor.

Yeah, but a hybrid Tacoma isn't even expected until Q3 of 2024: https://www.motortrend.com/news/future-cars-2024-toyota-tacoma-electric-truck/ And rumors are it'll be a little bigger, rather than smaller.

What kills me is all the full-size ($50k+) hybrid pickups still have pretty dreadful MPG (as they're still built with big HP for hauling large loads) - even the Tundra Hybrid is only 19/22.
Yes, exactly! My Ecoboost f150 gets better gas mileage than the Toyota tundra hybrid. The tundra hybrid was so disappointing. I would much rather see 30+ mpg and less horsepower and torque
