I kept looking at the wheels trying to figure out what you guys were talking about. Then I saw the illusion. Nice job. To be fair, I am heavily medicated most of the time 😬

love the retro style, very creative touch with the slotted-effect paint job! I'd personally like to see some chrome dog dish hubcaps with these to really complete the vintage look.
I think Baby Moons would look cool. However.......there are no indents or recesses to hold a hubcap on the steel wheels. Welding tabs onto the wheel was more effort than I wanted to do for ~3 months out of the year for snow tires.

side track, I didn't see anything on your profile. Is your rack welded tube and plate steel?

I wanted something different for my snow tires. I found a set of MAV take off naked steelies for $100 (with TPMS). I went through about 12 different colors of rattle can yellow (none were ever called orange!) to find the closest I could without spending $100's of for a quart of true color Cyber Orange matched paint.

Months ago on the forum I saw somebody sketch these wheels out, sort of like the old GM slotted steel wheels. The black part is paint.

For those who will ask - the closest rattle can paint I could find is Rust Oleum Caterpillar Yellow. You can't see it but Rust Oleum also makes a pearl clear. I wouldn't use it for panel repair the but the end result is pretty damn close to Ford Cyber Orange.

The center caps are painted black but I found out the XLT lug nuts won't hold the center cap. Found a set on eBay so I'm waiting for those.

I'm happy with the result. I'm guessing I'll never run across another truck that looks like this one.

I like it.... very well done. This turned out much better than the guy that painted his XL steelies to match his Area 51 Mav (That was posted a year / year and a half ago).

Who knew the Earl Scheib look would become a retro look?

Yes - it's a work in progress. Etrack system on the bed sides using the OEM mounting holes, removable square tube rack under the tonneau cover mounts so I can still use the roll up tonneau. I'm working on an interchangeable ski - bike - kayak - storage system to quickly mount/change on the rails. I didn't want to spend $3K on a full THULE system!

Nice, I also went with a diy system with extruded aluminum and some custom mounts for the tslot rails on the side.

Is this your Maverick? Any more pics with the beauty rings?
Yes and that's the only picture I have. These plastic beauty rings look like they were designed for my XL. A perfect fit in every way. I did cover the metal clip tabs with duct tape so they wouldn't scratch the finish on the steelies but I doubt I'll ever take them off. They fit so tight there's zero change of losing one. I wouldn't recommend metal beauty rings as they are prone to rust and they add unnecessary weight to the wheel.

You want that color? Amazon sells a paint called "School Bus Yellow" that's the same thing. Or, just do a search for "School Bus Yellow, paint. Plenty of choices.

I really thought I was going to hate this look base upon the title. Honestly they aren’t bad looking at all I like how you painted to look like the higher end Steelies from the broncos. Well done!

I did find this pic from this forum, and mine is blue so this pretty much tells me what I wanted to know / see:
