I had Co-Pilot added to my 2022 Hybrid Mav. On a scale of 1-5, 5 being outstanding I'd give it a 3.5. For several years had a Honda CRV previous to the Mav and their equivalent ran very well, especially lane assistance so my comparisons are to that. I also have the Mav CoPilot settings to strictest lane assistance. The lane assistance on the CoPilot is weak - sometimes I had it on and on an open road and no one around tested it. It let me drift over the lines frequently which is disappointing (Honda's would strictly keep you in). Sometimes I can drift halfway over the line and it will either resist lightly or jerk you back in the lane. Pretty poor performance IMHO.

The front end collision assistance on the other hand is hyper-sensitive. I have been just nicely cruising along in another lane, no car drifting in front of me, everyone in their lane and it suddenly go off and scaring the heck out of us. Then have had a couple of moments where I came close to backending someone due to them slamming their brakes or cutting in front and stopping and it never even came on.

The best function is the backup warning light coming on when in reverse. It has worked very well.

So co-Pilot is somewhat helpful overall - needs some work though to actually increase safety as it is supposed to do.

I'm pointing out my own idiocy here, but it took me a full year before I realized there was a settings page for CP360. I was always badmouthing it to my wife, who has an awesome Volvo system. Then I found the settings page and realized the default settings were turned way down by the dealership or factory - no lane correction, etc. I promptly chose the most aggressive settings and I'm much happier with the system. It could be better, but for $600 I'm OK with it.

Yes, I did that when I first got it and my review is based on it set to its strictest settings (I think I mentioned that in my post). Might just be my truck, who knows.

Thanks. It is so hard to find accurate information about the CP360. I thought only the lariats had the lane keep assist.

Yeah I'd say this is a fair assessment of the CP360 option available on the XLT. It's basic for sure and I've noticed some of the same issues you have. I do really like the BLIS system though and think it works really well.

Overall though the XLT CP360 pales in comparison to Fords other options available on the higher trim Maverick and other vehicles in their fleet.

That is likely the issue. Lane keep assist doesn't look very useful outside of the full package for the Lariat which has the extra radar and such in addition to the camera. So glad I didn't waste my money on the 360 package.

I like it but will be keeping both hands on the wheel I have lane assist turned off, 1 time I thought the crash detection went off needlessly but maybe it detected something I didn't see, on other occasions it worked great, Chicago land you get cut off a lot.

I wouldn't call it a waste of money by any means. It can be helpful in a lot of driving situations especially when you consider the cost. $560 amortized over the long term cost of a vehicle is a very small amount. Couple that with lower insurance premiums and a slightly higher resale value the cost is nothing.

BTW even on the Lariat the lane keeping assist feature doesn't use radar it uses the front camera same as the XLT. The only time the radar is used on the Lariat trim is when the vehicle has the adaptive cruise control enabled or it detects a need for the Evasive Steering Assist function.

As you should.......NONE of the CP360 features offered on any of the Maverick trims are meant to be used for hands free driving. Only Ford vehicles equipped with BlueCruise technology can be used for hands free driving.

XLT's with CoPilot 360 has lane keeping assist...when you are leaving your lane of traffic the steering wheel vibrates....just a lot of people need to turn it on in setup or adjust the sensitivity in the setup screen. I will never buy another vehicle without something comparable to CoPilot 360 on the XLT. The 360 can easily be turned on or off with a little button on the end of the turn signal stem... I always use it on freeway trips. The Pre-Collison alerts the driver of a pending crash or assists by slamming on your brakes if someone pulls in front of you or runs a red light...it has saved me more than once.

Co-Pilot 360 was a bargain and is WELL WORTH it. I got a significant insurance savings by having it. Those that don't like CP360 most likely don't have it and know little or nothing about it.

Even that is not fully autonomous, and is not for hands free driving either. It's merely a high end version of adaptive cruse control.
