When you start the Mav......
(Questions based on 24 EB XLT Lux pkg, which is not dual climate control)

the Climate Control systems is completely off,
1. but is it in "recycle" mode so no outside air comes in?

If you press the "temperature" knob, that was set to a lower (colder) temp setting, at last shut down.
2. the "AC" & "Fan speed" lights come on, but no other lights for "vent" come on?
3. it seems to be venting through the "face/body" vents?
4. is the "AC" compressor activated, so humidity is being extracted?

If you turn off the AC light,
5. the Air sometimes still feels very cool, as if the AC is still on?

If you press the "temp" knob that was set to a higher (warmer) temp setting, at last shut down.
6. only the "Fan speed" lights come on, again no other lights for vent?
7. it seems to be venting through the top windshield vent and side window vents?
8. is the "Defrost" compressor activated, so humidity is being extracted?

I search my owners manual and focused in on Pg 131, but it has nothing in there about the 8 questions I posted.
I must be missing something.
Set me straight.
Thanks in advance.

#1 is a good question, I don't feel air coming in relative to the speed I am traveling so it seems that it goes into Recirculation mode.
#5 is because the evaporator under the dash is still cold while air continues to blow through.

Other than that there does seem to be a default mode I haven't figured out yet that isn't displayed in lighted buttons. Mine seems to default to AC on and upper vents, I haven't taken the time to learn it since I am new to Automatic AC vs. me just setting the fan speed myself.

I have a 23 base XLT. I notice that cold air randomly comes out the vents on humid summer mornings when NOT running the AC. I'll be driving and all the sudden it will feel like the AC is on. The LED by the AC button is not lit. I can not find any info on this in the owners manual. I came to the conclusion that it is for humidity control within the cab. Maybe to keep the windshield from fogging up??

The same thing occurs in my '22 XLT. I thought I was going nuts, while driving the air coming out of the vents suddenly turns ice cold.

An automatic system throws a wrench into things. But, historically the AC comes on when the driver selects defrost. The purpose is to get the AC compressor running during winter. This keeps the o-rings from drying out.
I wonder if the automatic system in the Maverick has a similar feature.

I think the main reason for the AC compressor on during defrost, is to pull moisture from the air, speeding up the defrost.

The purpose is to extract moisture from the cold air to keep the windshield from fogging up. The AC dehumidifies the air.

Never heard that about the AC Compressor, but makes sense! I always thought that the defroster used the AC Compressor because the air produced by the AC Compressor is drier and defrosts/defogs the windows much more efficiently!?

Climate Control in the Mav, still baffling.
Still unclear about the Climate Control, in the Mav......
(Reposting questions here again, hoping for some more clarity)

At start up, the Climate Control systems is completely off, but........
1. is it in "recycle" mode, so no outside air comes in?
(Some good feedback, but no definitive answer)

If you press "on" the "temperature" knob.....
2. the "AC" & "Fan speed" lights come on, but no other lights for "vent" come on? (Why?)
3. the system seems to be venting through the "face/body" vents? (but not sure?)
4. (Deleted question #4, caused too much distraction.)

If you turn off the AC light,
5. the Air sometimes randomly feels very cool, as if the AC is still on, long after AC is turned off?
(some good feedback but still unclear about "Random" cold air when AC light is off)

If you press the "temp" knob that was set to a higher (warmer) temp setting, at last shut down.
6. only the "Fan speed" lights come on, again no other lights for vent? (Why?)
7. it seems to be venting through the top windshield vent and side window vents? (Not Sure?)
8. (Deleted question #8, caused too much distraction.)

I am not using the "Auto" mode for any of this.
Thank you to those that gave good feedback about this mysterious issue in the Ford Maverick.

Is that just an XLT thing? Mine seems to remember whatever the last settings were, I don't have to touch it to turn it on. Then again, 90+% of the time I am just set to Auto and it does a good job keeping comfortable

What irritates me is if want just the fan on, no heat or cooling, the air always comes out warm.
Huh?

Try setting temperature to "lo" the lowest it goes in ventilation only mode.

It will be strictly unmodified outside air, but of course if the air ducts are warm from being parked in the sun it will be warmer than outside air for quite a while.

Just crossed the desert and it was like about 108°F outside. Only needed fan set to lowest possible speed at lowest possible temperature to keep the truck interior 72 degrees. Amazing!
