Check Engine Light is on at 23,490 miles

As if getting the customer satisfaction letter this week for the long engine block wasn’t enough, the check engine warning light came on today right at 23,490 miles. It’s going in the shop Tuesday afternoon.

IDK how much more I can take with all the recalls, although they’ve already been repaired. My wife and I already agreed that her ‘22 Escape hybrid and my ‘22 Maverick will be the last two Fords we will ever own. These are the first two Fords we’ve owned since the mid-90’s. Now I remember why we got away from Ford vehicles, which stand for
“Fox Or Repair Daily”
or
“Found On Road Dead”

I am sorry you are not happy with your Ford products. We have a 2020 eco boost escape, 22 eco boost maverick and a 24 hybrid maverick,we are happy with all of them. We find all of them dependable. Good luck with your next auto.

Do you think other auto makers don't have recalls? A check engine light for an EGR isn't anything to cry about.

An EGR fault is typically not a big deal. I wouldn't be too surprised if the CEL clears itself after a few cycles.

Regarding the CSP engine replacement program-- what's the problem? You were notified of this issue with a recall over a year ago. Now they're offering a real fix for the few people (likely less than 100 total) that will have actual issues from it. The rest of us are basically getting a free extended warranty.

Not complaining, just airing some disappointment and frustration. I know other manufacturers have recalls. Maybe I’ve just had good luck with the numerous Toyota, Honda, Nissan, and Hyundai vehicles I’ve had over the years. I never had a recall with any vehicle I’ve owned.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my little truck and plan on keeping it for a long time to come.

I think that with all the computers and technology in cars today, computer upgrade recalls are just going to be a common occurrence. At least ford contacts you and says, come in and get this fixed. I have had many chevys that they don’t issue a recall but then secretly extend the warranty and issue a tsb so that you only know about it if you take it to a dealership for repairs. I feel like Ford has been more honest and open than other car brands. Perhaps that is why you haven’t had a recall on your other brands of vehicles.

I don't understand why we're getting freaked out about recalls. Ford is going to fix something that isn't even a problem for most of us. Like Toyota Tacomas don't have recalls?
