Cheap auto-dimming, homelink mirror

It a while to get mine, so be prepared to wait a little for it.

I ordered this and it came yesterday. All that was in the box is a wiring harness. I contacted Tasca still waiting for a reply.

I'm not sure how much reading you have done in this thread, but I made post that tells you step by step on what to do.

I can’t install a mirror I didn’t get. I just got the wiring harness. No mirror.

OK once you get a mirror follow my directions.

BTW, you have the part #; all Kia dealers have that part; I was able to find the mirror and harness for the same price at a local dealer. The dealer's websites are all the same, and you can search for parts by part #.

Yes you have a nice tutorial on how to wire it. I’ve been installing 12v electronics into cars for 20 years now. I think I’ll be able to handle it.

I’ll check the Kia dealers after I hear from Tasca.

That's a good question. When the postings about the mirror first came out it was a mad scramble to get one for under $50. Many vendors sold out, out of stock, or wanted hundreds of $$. Many of us went after the mirror marketed by KIA. You might want to start your search there.

Thanks, man. Yeah, I saw your reply to SpaceCowboy AFTER I posted my reply to him, so we're pretty much on the same wavelength. Figures, though, that you would have the part #. You're now the replacement mirror czar. LOL.

Glad it worked for you.
The pins are a good idea. I kind of thought of that when I was doing it, but didn’t want to place another order and wait. And wasn’t sure if they would hold; but the shrink wrap should make it hold.

I attached it at the camera plug.
12v accessory - purple with white
Ground - black with blue

I actually created a harness instead of tapping the wires.

Keep hunting different part numbers. I picked up an auto dimming one with compass, no homelink. I think I payed $35 shipped.

Could you supply the part number and where you got it?
I am interested in one with just the auto dimming and compass as well.
