Love it! I appreciate the thorough reply. And it makes sense. I didn't know the background story to the purchase and now that I do I certainly don't knock it. Funny enough, to me I thought of the Maverick being the truck version of a Civic just because I feel like there are so many options and aftermarket parts to make it your own. I understand the sentimental value for sure. My project '91 Camaro was a gift from my unc who has since passed and it will never go anywhere. As long as I'm able to take care of it, it's part of the family. Hopefully will pass it on to my nephew one day. And if it ever seems like it will become a yard planter, I will reluctantly let someone else enjoy it rather than let it rot to

I did that with the last SVT contour I had. Finally had a completely clean body and a exact 3.0 with a fully built trans and rather than let it drain/drown me and go to pot sitting outside in the process I cut my losses and moved on. Also noticed the difference in newer design cars the door sits higher at the window and how much less door and more glass there was on the design and once I saw it I couldn’t unsee it and it finally looked goofy to me. Funny I still have a brand new O2 sensor I never installed that I forgot to send with the car hanging in my room!

I definitely apply anything and everything I previously learned in life at every next waking day, especially at work and cars/trucks. It’s probably why I’ve been nominated for employee of the month at my work, and also why I’m suddenly taking on repair/maintenance work and upgrades on a 2014 BMW 535i. First customer BMW I’ve ever worked on but somehow I’m completely ready and confident in the job. I swapped so many SVT contours from 2.5 to 3.0. I pulled the trans in my civic and disassembled and reassembled it properly first time; only issue was the main bearings had so much play the shafts and gears wouldn’t align properly so sent it out to a master rebuilder/upgrader in Florida. Then when the engine went I pulled it with the trans attached up the top when my boss had told me it HAD to be pulled from underneath there was no way it could be pulled from the top. I’ve always been modest but I’ve naturally grown into being a bit cocky from the sum of my experiences.

Haha, I appreciate that. Yea, I look at things differently in life. Gotta put it into a perspective that makes it worthwhile to face the good, bad and ugly of everyday life. I never appreciated Hondas until more recently. Always thought of them as tiny cars but a friend has far too much time and money invested in one and it's a clean build and impressive power for a non turbo 4 banger! I've gotten a few employee of the quarter in my past. Hopefully at my new job I can acquire an employee of the month, they offer a front row parking spot for that! I wish at times I had a little more of the "just do it" attitude. I usually doubt myself on car projects and 9 times out of time 10 I surprise myself coming from a BMW dealership I know it's challenging working on those German turds (everything is a turd to me, no disrespect to anyone who owns a BMW. My Camaro is a third aka turd-Gen after all lol!) I'm just an overthinker and a smart ass rolled into one

OMG, those cars are such a maintenance nightmare. EVERYTHING is 10x more complicated

And once you've worked on it, any new problems that pop up afterwards are now YOUR problem because you've done work on it. I wouldn't touch BMWs with a 10 foot pole

Whatever's blue stays blue with the BAP. Only the seats and other colored parts get changed to black

True, my 25 XL already has black seats without paying extra, but none of the trims have black dashes or door panels, etc. I considered changing them to black, but don't really have the time to do it all.
