After several recent “long haul” trips (6 hours or more), I have seen my screen freeze at the 2 hour point. I first noticed this as the map not moving/miles remaining not counting down. The “soft reset” seems to reset things but this shouldn’t be necessary. Is this a common problem? Any ideas? It affects all touch screen functions.

'23 XL. My screen has frozen once in 20K miles, 15 months. I did the quick reboot of the infotainment system and it fixed it.

It's a computer. I haven't had one yet that hasn't frozen and required a "power button" reboot at some point.

Seems to be a lot of complaints here on the base radio package but so far I haven't had any issues with the sync 3 in my lariat. I did do a manual software update once probably 8-10 months ago only because it showed an update on the ford site. Downloaded it to a usb stick, stuck it in the usb port on truck and it did its thing and said it completed. Didn't notice any real differences imo.

I have driven my 22 Lariat with sync 3 over 3 years and have not experience any issues. :)

What is the reboot process again so I can remember. I've never had the screen freeze but I've had where the controls do it won't change the song or source regardless, That's happened at least five times I can think of.

Mainly does it when listening to music on my Sandisk 128gb mini USB thumb drive.

Audio System – Troubleshooting

Symptom
Possible Cause and Resolution
The system is not functioning.
  • You can reset the system to restore functionality that has stopped working. The system reset is designed to restore functionality and does not delete any personal data that you have stored.
I want to delete personal data from the system.
  • A master reset is required to restore the system back to factory settings. This deletes any personal data that you have stored.
Resetting the System
  1. Simultaneously press and hold the seek up and the audio unit power buttons until the screen goes black.
  1. Wait three minutes to allow the system to complete the reset.
Master Reset
Ford Maverick Center screen freeze {filename}
Select the settings option on the feature bar.
  1. Select General.
  1. Select Master Reset.
  1. Select Continue.
Note: If you carry out a master reset, the system does not remove your vehicle from your vehicle network carrier’s account. To remove your vehicle from the account, contact your vehicle network carrier.
Note: If you carry out a master reset, the system removes any authorized users and personal data.

Jerry, what is this rear infotainment you speak of? Is that a tablet that hangs on the back of the seat for the back seat passengers (kids)? I believe I saw something like that available when I ordered my truck. If so, does that tie into the dash infotainment system somehow?

22 Lariat. Have had this happen a couple times with Android Auto. The entire screen froze, not just Maps.

Two things I noticed: Android Auto wasn't updated (saw this later). And that pressing the screen button to the clock and then off and then back on and it was now unfrozen and back up to my location.

After I updated Android Auto, I didn't notice the problem again. Just had a very long trip to Texas and back. And no issues with the frozen screen. Since my phone is plugged in almost the entire time, I could tell you if it was freezing outside of Android Auto.

Audio, radio or bluetooth, continued to work through the freezing.

Hi Papak - I have a '24 Lariat, same Sync3 I believe. I received a notice that a software update was required for Sync3. I don't know if it applies to the '23 Lariat but you might want to check on that. My Ford dealer sent a mobil service tech and the update [plus one for tailights] was done in my driveway in about 30 minutes.

So far so good on the freeze issue in this post. 24 Lariat EB... Recently home from a run down to SC from MA for the holidays. 16 1/2 hours down and 15 1/2 hours on the way back... No freezing of the Map.
