P0B24 - Hybrid Battery A Voltage Unstable
Had this problem back in April. Cleared the code then and it just came back today.

P0887 - Transmission Control Module(TCM) power relay, control - circuit high.

All recalls are up to date. It's driving fine except every now and then when slowing down to a stop, it would have the infamous judder. Had the judder a while back but that went away after a recall was done. I can't remember which one.

I searched this site for P0887 but it appears no one has had this problem before.

Any insights?

That P0B24 Hybrid battery voltage unstable code sounds like a serious issue. I would have it checked out at a Ford dealer as soon as possible.

* Edited, because I’m silly and missed the 136k miles part. o_O

"Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The high voltage battery pack is consisted of multiple series-connected cells. To preserve battery life and insure the battery pack good performance, it is essential to minimize the deviations between individual cell state-of-charge (SOC). Cell balancing circuit, located inside BECM , is used to achieve the objective by closing the electric circuit to discharge the cells with high SOC. Cell Balancing occurs when the high voltage battery state-of-charge (SOC) is equal or greater than 15% and the ignition has been turned off for greater than 24 hours. When cell balancing circuit is stuck open or closed, the corresponding cells SOCs are higher or lower than the other cell SOCs, and the wrench indicator will illuminate. After BECM replacement, the cell balancing circuit stuck open or closed DTC might be returned because of the unbalanced cell SOCs, and cell re-balancing is necessary to resolve the fault symptom. The stop safely hazard (red triangle) warning indicator and MIL illuminates. For DTCs P0B24:00 electric motor propulsion will be limited reducing vehicle power.

Possible Causes

  • Wiring, terminals or connectors
  • BCMC concern
L1 CHECK FOR LOW VOLTAGE BECM (BATTERY ENERGY CONTROL MODULE) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)
NOTE: Turn the ignition OFF for 5 minutes before carrying out the self-test or clearing DTCs.

NOTE: DTC P0887 may set as a result of a low 12 volt battery concern or loose connections to the 12V battery or ground.

NOTE: DTCs P0562 and U3003 may set in any module in addition to DTC P0887 set in the Inverter System Controller (ISC). Diagnose all other low 12V DTCs before entering this pinpoint test.
At 136k miles there is no warranty unless you have an extended one.

I do have the PremiumCARE 5Yrs/150000 miles extended warranty. But, dealers always find a way to not cover issues under warranty.

My wife drives the truck now and she said she remembers hitting a bump or pot hole then noticing the CEL light coming on. I wonder if it's still that battery cable issue that caused this. There was a CSP but that had expired. Dealer quoted me $1400 to replace that cable.

I'm taking it to them on Monday and see what they say it is this time. In the meantime, the Mav drives fine.

My 2025 2wd LTX hybrid is in the shop now receiving a new transmission.
16,238 miles and all easy highway miles.
No cel, but had a P1706 code.
I also had the judder at a light while stopped.

Welp, drove the Mav around town today and it drove fine like nothing happened. Went and got a car wash and did some grocery shopping with the wife. During one of our stops, CEL light went out. I checked for code when we got home. Both codes are still present but showing inactive. I guess we'll drive it around and see if CEL light comes back on then we'll take it to the dealer.
I did a transmission drain and fill, my second one since we've had the Mav. The first one was around 60k miles. Fluid was dark looking in the white bucket but on the white paper towel, it still looked reddish pink.
