I love my Ford Maverick. The sound system is dismal. I don't listen to music on my phone when I have so many CD's that I love. I'm not crazy about today's music. I don't like paying for unlimited cell phone usage.

With my old portable CD player, a great portable Bluetooth Speaker, and now Swiitech Bluetooth transmitter Model TR-01 , I can get great-sounding music in my Ford Maverick. No replacing the installed crapy speakers and the associated costs of all that. Altogether it cost me $70 ( I used my old non-Bluetooth CD player). The folks are Swiithech are great. I rarely give product reviews because either an item is good or I send it back. This is an exceptional little device that was easy to setup and get it running in a matter of minutes. It is 5 plus Stars.

Alternatively, you could get a large USB stick and copy your CDs onto it. Use FLAC instead of MP3 and it will maintain 100% audio quality.

Even the base radio will play FLAC files.

Hmm. Not a bad idea. Fortunately I have an iPod Classic and I've burned my CD collection into iTunes (28,000+ songs) so I can use that for now.

The ipod will not be recognized by the head unit. Apple and Microsoft don't want to get along...
I'm in a similar situation. I've been using iPods in my cars for 10+ years, music has been all ripped to MP3V0 so its only slightly lossy. In a vehicle like the Maverick without great sound deadening, and a fairly basic sound system, I don't think you will hear the difference between FLAC and V0 MP3.

I bought a sub-$15 SanDisk 128GB USB drive (tiny low profile) and setup a file sync for it and my MP3 music folders. Hopefully it works well (waiting for delivery of my Mav).

Ford SYNC hasn't been Microsoft-based for near a decade.
Maybe Microsoft doesn't put their name on it, but the backend is still the same and it doesn't recognize an Ipod when plugged in to a USB like many other (non-Ford) vehicles do.

I don't know. It's already working for me...........most of the time. Every once in awhile I think it's not shutting off the connection to the iPod/etc. and the battery on the iPod dies. Then the Ford doesn't recognize the iPod. Sometimes it won't start the song and skips to the next one. However, I had some similar issues happen with the Pioneer deck in my last vehicle, so I hardly blame it on Ford or Apple CarPlay. I guess as long as it works most of the time.

My truck recognizes and plays all the music on both my iPod Touch and iPod 5th generation. I did use iTunes on windows though when I ripped my music.

Not it isn't. Ford switched to QNX by Blackberry. And is in the process of switching newer/future vehicles to Android OS in Sync 4.

This seems to contradict everything else I've read and seen on YouTube.

Maybe I will be surprised. Mine is an 80GB 6th Gen. 128GB USB was cheap and holds more...so I won't be terribly disappointed either way.

Sync 3 is QNX, but only the Lariats Lux models Sync 3 so who knows what these are. Android/Sync 4 is irrelevant on our Mavericks. As I said, most of the early reports last year said that the Maverick head unit said unsupported USB device when people tried to plug in iPods. Maybe that changed with software updates? Maybe it is highly dependent on which iPod? I don't know. I do know that a $15 USB thumb drive can hold more than my iPod though and if it doesn't work, I'll be using that method.

Can someone explain how I can transfer my music from my old iPod to a flash drive?
