hey, vinyl is back. What’s old is new (“in”) again.
cassettes are making a comeback with local musician crowd too. My Patriot has a hard drive so I would buy used CD's download them and return them.

Ok, not going to add any extra snark to this thread, but I think the portable CD player w Bluetooth out is going to be the best and most cost effective choice, but if you play CDs exclusively and don't mind spending a bit more, there are slot load units that are powered and controlled by the vehicle's USB port. No worrying about batteries to change and you can control from the touchscreen. The only concern, which goes for a discman as well, is where to put it.

I am looking to add a CD player to my maverick . looking for 12 volt plugin portable CD player . any info helpful . plan on plugging into socket on back of center console . I have xlt .
Yes I bought an aftermarket CD player designed to plug into a USB port. It works great. Buy some velcro strips the big ones and place where under the metal underneath where are the USB C and regular USB are located. Easy to figure out. Your info system will do something called indexing which will allow your CD player to play. You can also buy a standard USB(male) adapter where one plugs in and 2 come out(females) so you can use 2 separate regular usbs

As a vinyl guy (no working CD player in the house) I will need to add one as well, the one from Amazon via usb looks like it would do the trick. I still have a ton of CD's and play them exclusively in my 2000 Ranger (and only play records while at home). I've seen people complain that the radio in the Maverick can get stuck but that isn't a concern for me since I never listen to the radio anyway.

Going all digital is fine. But I prefer CD's. After all, used CD's can be traded. I have yet to find a used MP3 store to trade in digital albums for others.

Sheesh. What a waste of money. You could get a 256GB thumb drive for $30 and hold the equivalent of 2000 CDs.
I like that idea. But how does one get their music on a thumb drive. Inserting CD after CD into something to store music. Just use a CD player. Easy done. No wasted time.

Working at a dealership I found out that alot of people are seeking a CD player, and Ford phased them out and ruled them "old technology". To my surprise pre-millennials have to have it and since it's not an option I just refer them to an external cd player which plugs in to the USB port and you can even change the songs from your steering buttons. It is powered by the same USB and with all the room you have in your Maverick you can pretty much mount it anywhere. The player works fine even if it's mounted in a weird position. Amazon has it for $249 but good ol Walmart still has in on sale

External CD Walmart $91.48
Thanks for a straight answer. My wife does not "do" digital music. She is an old school 72 year old and is in charge of music on long drives, so a good cd player will be necessary when my Maverick shows up.

Tell her a CD is "digital music.". Gonna have to get a turntable, cassette deck, or an 8-track deck.😃
