Yes, you have to drill holes in the bed liner when installing it.

I spent some money and a lot of time installing L-Track rails and love the results, but I have to say that those M8 eyebolts would have done everything I ever needed at a fraction of the cost. The threaded inserts in the bed are not designed for this, so you might want to use fender washers to distribute sideways / bending loads on the thin sheet metal of the bed.

I got the 10 eyebolts. Screwed them into the existing holes and have a mesh stretchy (bungie cord type) net that covers the whole box inside. Grocery bags are held in place nicely, but the net will allow anything that's not higher than my tonneau cover. Light items can even be slid beneath the cover and the net. Total cost under $25 bucks.

THIS- although these would work great for very light weight/forces, the bedrail system is meant so the force of something pulling is distributed across multiple mount points.

I'd recommend checking out the owner manual for more info about how to properly tie stuff down so it doesn't hurt the Mav.
