I have a XLT with an existing single bed light, would I be able to splice into that light and add 2 LED strips from Amazon on that light . It already has a switch

Here's Ford's suggestion for an inexpensive DIY bed lighting setup.

A few people have installed lights tapping into the stock bed light.

I got these from amazon as well. As for detailed instructions, these two videos are good to follow except I tapped into the bedlight using those T-Tap connectors and did not use the 12v accessory wire like the youtubers. Just remember to tap into the light, and not the on/off button. Your LED strips's red wire will tap into the black/white wire, black wire will tap into the black/green wire. And since you will doing that, you'll be able to utilize the existing bedlight's on/off button, so no need to bother with the LED strip's supplied button. It just looks so much cleaner and functions like it was factory. If it weren't for the the tiny bit of wire showing between the end of strips and bed rail system, you would not be able to tell it was an aftermarket addition.

would think so, search the forum for something like "bed lights", etc, there's been a whole lot of threads/post on the subject. I seem to recall one using the existing switch

Yup, I did it with posi-taps. Great result that functions as if it was installed at the factory. The lights come on and off when I lock and unlock the keyfob, and of course the switch in the bed works as well

I believe you can do that without much of an issue. I removed the existing bed light and installed another cubby and am working on replacing it with a light on each side of the bed. Discovered the bed switch also controls the cargo light above the rear window.

one thing that I did discover in removing the OEM bed light, the 12V power plug that comes with the truck for the extra spots in the bed connects to the plug that connects to the bed light.

Yes, it can be done and many folks here have done it and posted 'How-to's" and links to where to purchase. The lights come with their own switch, but you can tap into the switch already in the bed. I chose to do that, but the decision is yours.

I tapped directly into the light the easiest way to do all the work with the drop in bed liner is to remove both tail lights , you have full access to the existing light and switch and can snake wires down and under the end of the tail gate to the other side. Full lenght LED from amazon $22 are super bright and go on and off with the existing light. No issues with over loading the existing lighting circuit, works with the switch and when you unlock the car and open the tail gate

Completed the bed lights today, very happy with it. Also using the OEM bed light plug and switch to run these. Working great
