I understand that...but no matter whether there is a "carry over process" or not, there is still a pent up demand for what, 22,000 unbuilt hybrids? I don't see the 2024 ordering to be much different than the 2023 ordering was....short and oversold.
I think we can assume at this point they will be building more units at least. So I take it you are going to try to own two Mavericks?

I wasn't fond of the deposit, but it was my first contact with this local dealer, and they agreed to X-Plan. It will always be more of a contract to me if money actually changes hands and is receipted. Besides, they took a credit card that has a 1.75% cash rebate to me, so them holding it for 491 days didn't make me lose that much interest.

This dealer is local and services al three of my Fords now, so hopefully I'll have a decent relationship with them...but only if they can get allocations for a 2024.
Well usually ā€œ non refundableā€ is not meant to keep you tied to a vehicle they can’t possibly provide you.

Any educated guesses out there as to whether it would be reasonable to try to order from them again when orders open for 2024 Mavericks? They do require a $1,000 non-refundable deposit.
Wow, I'm sorry but that's incredible scammy to take a $1,000 non refundable deposit on an order that they know full well might not get completed. I would never do business with that dealership. The dealerships around here were taking $500 refundable deposits which is more than what other on the forum paid but at least it was refundable. I would never trust that stealership.

No, just one is enough. I bought my 2023 Hybrid so that I could tow it behind a small 25' RV (Ford Transit) that has a 4,000 lb towing limit.
HOWEVER, I am trying to get prepared for IF Ford offers a flat-towable Hybrid with AWD. Probably less than a 25% chance for 2024, but if they do, I'll want it and be trading off this one, not keeping it. No AWD, then I won't be in the market. PHEV or HEV doesn't really make a difference to me, but AWD is great for Wyoming weather.

Nope. The $1,000 is standard up here. This isn't a scammy area nor dealership. This part of the country is still in the 1960s in a lot of ways. Kids play in the street until dark and people are a lot kinder than on the coast.

The deposit was made in 11/21, before anyone knew the struggles of getting a Maverick. Now I would expect a dealer to be thrilled to get a Maverick order and hope the customer changed their mind...since they can't order stock.

Honestly, I would not give an order to a dealer who didn't accept at least a $500 deposit changing hands. We've all seen the BS that has been going on in some places, along with orders sold out from under folks.

Allocations are the cause of people at least now knowing about them and placing at least 2 orders minimum for one wanted truck. All fords doing.

I think the 2024 hybrid orders will be full again in a few days. One people will order duplicate orders on account of unknown allocations.. Two at least 35 THOUSAND 2023 orders never built. So with that hybrids sold out in reality first or second day. Ford might take orders foolishly for several days like they did this past Sept. BUT a week tops. If Ford smartens up (doubtful) they will shut off orders once filled. Any leftovers from canceled ones sent to dealer lot. All still sold so same profit but less angry people. BUT I said doubtful. It will be another repeat from past September.

I share your fear. The popularity of these trucks has not peaked. I asked the question because I am trying to determine if I'd be foolish to just order one from my local dealer when orders open. Even with low popularity here for small trucks. Ford not giving us details on what will be offered until the last second doesn't help. July, if that comes to pass, is less than 90 days away.

All I am saying related to your question is don't be a sucker like me last order time and only order ONE. Order two or more. Since your locked into a no refund deposit it makes it much harder. Like others have said no refund no way for me. I want it in writing too for refund. . Plus use credit card as they will do a charge back for you. I have a 2023 order in place for a Hybrid BUT I doubt I will ever see it.

Well my dealer took a total of 50 Maverick orders last September when I ordered my 23 XL Ecoboost. My XL and one other came in at the beginning of April. I was informed by the salesman that Ford told the dealership that is was only going to build 14 out of their 50 orders. So they were only going to get 12 more 23's . For what is worth....

This is why after not getting my 2022, and now nothing in my 2023, I had to do something, so I went to the competition and got a 2023 Kia Soltes that was on the lot. Several to choose from too. And while waiting, they received to more truck loads of vehicles. So my question is, if other manufacturers can get parts and build their vehicles, what is Ford’s excuse???

Ford Maverick sales are over double the Santa Cruz and they do not have to deal the the extra hybrid parts.

I seriously doubt if they would have kept my deposit if they couldn't produce the truck for me. Reputation is important in a town of 33,000, and easily lost by that sort of shenanigan. Luckily, I didn't have to test it on my 2023.

I'm just trying not to be "that guy" and order more than I really want. But as you know, Ford caused this over-ordering stuff. I just fear that ordering here again may be a lost cause, given their low numbers. Maybe Ford will fix it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I get it. Ordering more than you want is just wrong. BUT I WON'T be that sucker if i have to order a 2024. No way no how

I'm on my phone, so takes forever to type. But I will give you the keyword "market basket formula" as something to Google. It is part of ford allocation methodology. When I'm on a computer I might be able to elaborate more. For now, know that it is not as simple as "they sold 6 last year so they get 6 next year". Allocations take into account previous year sales of multiple model lines. Not just the maverick. So their maverick allocation also depends on sales of other vehicles last year. It is more complicated than that. But that is one large part of allocation distribution.
What Paneubert said... I just got off the phone with my dealer and he said it has to do with their past years sales history over their whole vehicle line, then it narrows things down to truck/suv sales. My dealer said they took in 22 orders and only 15 will get built. Mine is scheduled and I was first in line on 09/15/22 first one that was accepted but he said 7 or 8 others were scheduled before me and they have had 5 delivered. So some of their customers will have to transition to 2024 MY the hard way.

Which if correct what the dealer told you Ford NEW way ahead of time how many orders the dealer should have been allowed to place. NOT one above that amount. Then a customer could be told that and the customer could look elsewhere. No duplicate ordering needed. .NO I wonder if my truck gets built BS. that we have now . No complaints on this board, no ford sucks needed. More pleasant experience all the way around. BUT no No one knows how many allocations or if the dealer you placed an order at will have enough for orders placed. Does Amazon work like that. NO they say SOLD OUT on an item so you look for something else or other location .
