Asking if you can add a Keyless entry door keypad pillar?

I have an XL Hybrid.

I did it to my 2018 F150 STX

FYI This is just the trim kit which you don't need. You need this:

I do believe he was referring to adding the actual hard mounted pad just like comes on the XLT and Lariat. On F150s and Super Dutys this is a very easy and common mod.

Ford makes it even easier with that stick on keypad which essentially just acts as a coded key fob that's attached somewhere on the truck.

I assume this is batter powered and the face simply pops off to replace said batteries?

I ordered one from my dealership but unfortunately to pair with your vehicle is next to impossible from what I could find on my own. Dealership tried to gouge me to install it themselves. (more than the cost of the keypad)

There are "key replacement" shops which know how to program the vehicle for keys- this would likely work the same way.

I would like to know if someone has successfully installed this on a Maverick. We sold it from the accessories catalog but couldn't get it to program. If this is a case of my tech just not knowing what he was doing, I could use that info.

The accessories catalog has been incorrect so much of the time that we took it as another catalog error and stopped selling them for mavericks without factory remote start.

Note when ordering from the accessories site there are two different versions.

One for vehicles with remote start, another for vehicles without (like the XL).

Can get it cheaper here:

I've used these kinds of keypads before. One on my Focus (after I locked myself out on a trip in New Jersey) and I have one located inside my fuel door on my Escape. I think the batteries are supposed to last something like 10 years.

By the time you complete the labor and parts to add the keypad, cruise and nice wheels, you might as well get the XLT. This channel I found has good info, including programming the keypad.

Since 2014 or so it is much more involved to program a wireless keypad. Most dealers will charge you $100 or so. It requires some funky weird programmer and software, not ForScan either, to work. For some reason it did not work on my 05 Ranger even though Ford said it "should". Luckily the dealer did not charge me for the failed attempt.

The wired one will prolly program in ForScan but lotso more work and effort. Should just buy the XLT.

The part says “Requires Dealer Service Tool.” So does that really mean you have to take it to the dealer to get it to work?
