Not mad, not complaining, just looking for some realistic information. I know we have several extremely knowledgeable people in here because I have learned a TON in my short time here. I will make this as short as I can.

I ordered a 2022 Maverick XLT w/ Lux / 4k Tow / FX4 / Copilot 360 on 12/14. I had (unfortunately) never been to this site to learn what a poo tornado this entire rollout has been until after. I paid a $500 deposit and the dealer bought my 2016 Colorado with 70k miles on it for 2k more than I paid for it in 2017-that extreme used value is what led me to consider trading at all. Dealer said 12 weeks for the new truck no problem.

It has now been 8 of their "12" weeks. I got a confirmation email but have not been scheduled for production. My sales rep is useless and the internet manager who does all the ordering cannot tell me anything aside from no vin or production schedule yet. Ford swapped my spray in liner for a drop in when the order was accepted due to constraints-since then-nothing. I am well aware that others ordered WAY before me and are in the same boat.

The issue I have is based on multiple threads here it looks like I may not get this truck at all and if I do it will be a LONG time. That is time I don't have-I worked off their 12 week estimate and have been borrowing or renting a vehicle as needed.

A local dealer has a couple of 22' Frontiers which would be my second choice. Every other mid-size truck is due or overdue for a re-design that is coming in the next 1-2 years (Ranger, Taco, Colorado) and the Santa Cruz bed is too shallow for my needs. I am considering just going and buying the Nissan then seeing what happens. I do not know if I could get my deposit back on the Maverick but I could buy it and try and flip it if/when it ever gets built.

Am I off base here?

You're EcoBoost, so that's a plus. But you're Lux and CP360, that a minus when it comes to scheduling. It's hard to say. You could be scheduled in the next round or straggling at the end.

If you prefer the Maverick over the Frontier, and can wait awhile longer, do so. If it's all sixes for you and you can get the Frontier for a reasonable price, well, then, do that.

Do what's best for you. If the Maverick won't work out for you at this time, it's OK. You're going to make someone else very happy.

I understand that the scheduling is a crap shoot. Just struggling with what my odds are and the chances of it getting built in any kind of time frame is-I am seeing people now whose trucks are built already with delivery pushed to May so not sure what to do.

I called Ford customer service and the lady was awesome and could not have been nicer but told me a lot of their ability to see what was going on had been taken away. She was fairly sure she found my order (said my dealer ordered multiple trucks on the same order code and it was confusing) but couldn't tell me anything other than to keep hounding the dealer which is about as effective as talking to a wall.

Thanks!

Yeah, the truth is no one knows with any certainty.

I sold my EV months before my eco Maverick was supposed to arrive but only because I had a ‘00 F250 to drive until it was delivered. After a few trips and several hundred dollars in fuel I decided the wait wasn’t worth it so I started calling dealers and asked to be on or start a waiting list for a Lariat hybrid that was turned down. It took about a month but I finally found one. I was willing to compromise on the color, the trim and several add on accessories. I ended up with more than I would have ordered it and a different color but by the time I figured in all the fuel costs for my F250, it was a smart financial move. Had I not found my Lariat Hybrid I probably would have bought something else.

Being that you’re in the Florida Keys getting a vehicle is probably harder for you than the rest of us unless you’re willing to travel a good distance. I believe there will be a couple eco-boosts that will become available here in NE FL, one being the one I’ve had on order but no longer need since I found and purchased my Lariat. Many people ordered several Mavs at different dealers with no intention of buying all of them so you should star seeing some show up in dealer inventor. Of course not all will be available but one might. Good luck with your decision!

⚠ Warning: unless you’re willing to pay an ADM check the threads for dealers that sell at MSRP or are at least transparent about their fees!

If you can, find out how many orders are ahead of you at the dealer. If there aren’t any, assuming the 360/lux doesn’t hold you up, you get scheduled rather quickly. If you have even a couple ahead of you, could be an issue. If these are hybrids, could be a good thing depending on if the regional manager has a head on his shoulders. They can skip over those for your order if the conditions are right. But honestly, probably going to be a couple month wait. You may find that tomorrow is your day.

I recently traded in my '22 Nissan Frontier to Carvana. It's a quiet ride and the interior is a little more spacious and comfortable than the previous generation, but you're going to average around 18mpg combined real world and the 9-speed transmission is very indecisive going up any type of grade or turning.

Overall, it's a solid, good-looking truck, but it handles like a full-sized truck and at the same MPG, you may be able to get something a little nicer with more room if that's what you're after. If you can't get it at MSRP or better, you might think about going with the previous generation and save yourself some money. In my opinion, they put a lot of powder and lipstick on a truck that's scarcely been updated since 2005. Nothing wrong with that...previous gen was super solid. The 310 hp engine packs some good punch and that may take you a long way depending on what you're using it for. In a normal world, I think it's a mid-20k truck at best. That being said, you can't wave a magic wand and change the market. Good luck either way!

Any chance you could lease from the dealer your buying from and they will release you from the lease when the truck comes in?

Even if you do get lucky and get scheduled for April you have 2-4 weeks for shipping. That puts you out another 12 weeks. You could face chip delays and that could tack on months. You might get it mid summer.

Is there more you can do? Buying another vehicle will certainly put you out for taxes again if nothing else. Below are some half baked ideas at 5am.

1. Long term loaner. Call the rental agencies.
2. Short short term used lease. Talk to your dealer to see if you can lease a used ride tell the truck comes in. Talk to multiple dealers.
3. Buy a beater. Find an old Honda Civic and drive her tell the Maverick Arrives. Keep it for a backup or donate it to a school house for a tax write off.
4. GTA

Because I found this site I am about to make an informed decision. Since my current ride is a leased Escape, my lease was up in December. I extended it until April thinking surely I'd have my truck by then. Nope, not even scheduled.

I've read so much on here and when people were suggesting to others to buy out the lease I was not interested because I had heard that I wouldn't get my money's worth. However, the used car market is wild right now. Because I leased before the market went nuts I'm in a really good place. So next week I'll be buying out my lease. I'll now have a trade-in vehicle.

My salesman even said that since I have really low mileage its even better. I should come out ahead even if I have to wait till summer before I get my truck.

Now my decision would be do I trade in to the dealership when the time comes or go with Carmax or another type of car buyers?

You will need to pay sales tax on the Eacape when you buy it. If you trade in with the dealer you will avoid sales tax on the trade in value. You will need to factor in the sales tax value when selling to another buyer. Once the math is done take the most profitable deal for you.

Every dealer I’ve dealt with gives the deposit back. They don’t lose money by ordering the truck, so they should not keep the deposit.

Sounds like you ordered late if they immediately took off the spray-in liner.
You will get a truck eventually, even if you don’t make the 2022 cut, but it sounds like you need a truck sooner than later.

I’d buy something else if I were you. If you wanted a hybrid, it would be worth the wait, seeing how there is no competition, but because you went with ecoboost, a frontier, tacoma, ranger, santa cruz, etc. will be comparable in ways.
If you need a refreshed truck, the frontier works, but the interior is far from feeling new. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Dealer ordered multiple trucks on same order code?
Make sure your order is Retail then.
What did they do, a fleet order?
If so, you might not ever get the truck! Another person on the forum had order confirmed only to find out it was priority code 80-something because it was ordered as a stock order rather than retail. Check your paperwork to verify.

Buy and Flip the one you like least, its an opportunity that a buyer will seldom see, neither vehicle should loose value in 6 months:
opinion only - its transportation
