Can Anyone Answer This With Certainty?

I am really at a loss to square the following in my head. We all have read the gamut of experiences concerning the headlamps on Mavericks and the reaction to them from oncoming drivers. Some said, even when their high beams are on, they never get ‘flashed.’ I have experienced the opposite. My low beams are always getting blasted like they are on high. Kinda confused about the different reactions occuring during nighttime driving, but I guess I can write that off to varying angles of the light housings.
So, now to my ‘deeper confusion.’ I have a Cyber Orange Mav because I do love the color and I also want to be seen. I have never been charged with an accident in my 52 years of driving, but I have been hit by others 3 or 4 times. To possibly corral the attention of oncoming drivers, I was running my high beams during the day. And I was getting ‘flashed’ a lot!!! Isn’t the flashing after dark because the oncoming drivers are having a hard time visually? Am I really affecting their ability to see the road?? Are they angry when they see I have my high beams on? Are they trying to tell me they are on, to save me from wasting battery power? Do lense implant drivers see halos?? Do cataract sufferers have a hard time seeing the road because of distorted lenses?
All these possibilities cycle through my head, but I have no idea which, if any are the real reason. It truly baffles me that a few can drive at night with highs on and not illicit a reaction. I cannot even drive on a sunny day with my high lamps on and not get flashed.
I hope there will be a consenus here on MTC to my dilemma. On the other hand, my ‘plan’ to be noticed by distracted drivers was definitely working to some degree, because the reaction I was getting was pretty stark. I would say that 5 to 10% of oncomers were ‘flashing’ me. I will tally your opinions and go with whatever the vote says! Thanks to all you lucky Maverick owners!!!

Driving with your high beams on all the time for fear of being in a collision constitutes failure to use low beams when approaching another vehicle regardless of day or night. In all states that's grounds for a citation. Be respectful and use your low beams if you must. Oncoming drivers are flashing their lights at you in an attempt to get you to use low beams. You are being disrespectful of other drivers.

I have implanted artificial lenses after having cataracts removed. After surgery, I did see halos around each light source until my brain adapted and filtered the signals. Prior to surgery I had to look away at the edge of the road to avoid being blinded by off road aftermarket LED headlights that were improperly installed. I often held my hand up to block the excessive light. Dirty or pitted windshield amplify this effect. OEM high beams are an annoyance, but don't completely blind oncoming traffic. I wish police would issue citations for off road lights being used on roadways.

It's been over 20 years but in the past I have had several windshields replaced for sand pitting which was covered under my insurance policy. Mainly for late afternoon sunshine glare.

I will continue to use them. But I will always knock them down as soon as I see oncoming traffic. I realize now that it is very bothersome, to some. I have to respect that. I appreciate everyone’s comments, except the mean spirited posters. Everything is so easy to ‘be brave’ about, from a keyboard. Like beer muscles in a bar………………..like keyboard muscles in an online forum. Same thing. 80% of my local travels are made up of country roads. A friend and local businessman died after taking a head on from a drunk driver 3 miles from my place. It was about 3 weeks ago now. Daytime ‘accident’, if you can call it such. I call it a shame. I also call it for 10-20 for the drunken fool. So if another drunken fool sees me knock my high beams down, maybe they will ‘wake’ enough to navigate past me. BTW, my friends wife had just died, and now his seriously handicapped daughter is without either parent. Tragic for sure! Despite all who mock me for trying to stay safe on the roads as driving becomes ever more dangerous, I will continue to do the same, but with extra consideration for the oncoming drivers!!

I’ll add my 2¢— I’ve had 23 vehicles, including 3 Mavericks, most recently the 25 Lariat Hybrid. I find the headlights and auto-highbeam to be excellent.

can’t recall ever being flashed in any Maverick.

Our Tesla Y & 3 got flashed often, as did our Kia Telluride.

Best headlights I’ve ever had were in our VW ID.4 (IQ Lights w/ Matrix LED)

I think there are better ways to stay visible to oncoming traffic without becoming a safety hazard to others. despite what I feel are your own understandable reasons for wanting to use them, I hate when people do it. There is a Reddit post about this very subject.

IYHO. Have you ever been at fault in an accident? Have you ever killed a deer with your car or truck. I have not any of the above. Would you like me to deactivate my high beams???? I will if you insist. In the future, my high beams will be immediately knocked down to low as soon as a car coming towards me comes into view. But even that is not good enough for you. Are you The Traffic Nazi from Seinfeld? And I will continue to activate my four way flashers on the interstate when traffic starts to slow. Oh yeah, and I always move to the left when an emergency vehicle or police car is on the shoulder. Same for any vehicle really.
