Can Anyone Answer This With Certainty?

High beams are annoying day or night. I never realized people used them with traffic around on purpose! I just thought they were clueless in a special way.

I will say the safety angle works in my case because I DEFINITELY "see" you and try to get as far from you as possible.

I am really at a loss to square the following in my head. We all have read the gamut of experiences concerning the headlamps on Mavericks and the reaction to them from oncoming drivers. Some said, even when their high beams are on, they never get ‘flashed.’ I have experienced the opposite. My low beams are always getting blasted like they are on high. Kinda confused about the different reactions occuring during nighttime driving, but I guess I can write that off to varying angles of the light housings.
So, now to my ‘deeper confusion.’ I have a Cyber Orange Mav because I do love the color and I also want to be seen. I have never been charged with an accident in my 52 years of driving, but I have been hit by others 3 or 4 times. To possibly corral the attention of oncoming drivers, I was running my high beams during the day. And I was getting ‘flashed’ a lot!!! Isn’t the flashing after dark because the oncoming drivers are having a hard time visually? Am I really affecting their ability to see the road?? Are they angry when they see I have my high beams on? Are they trying to tell me they are on, to save me from wasting battery power? Do lense implant drivers see halos?? Do cataract sufferers have a hard time seeing the road because of distorted lenses?
All these possibilities cycle through my head, but I have no idea which, if any are the real reason. It truly baffles me that a few can drive at night with highs on and not illicit a reaction. I cannot even drive on a sunny day with my high lamps on and not get flashed.
I hope there will be a consenus here on MTC to my dilemma. On the other hand, my ‘plan’ to be noticed by distracted drivers was definitely working to some degree, because the reaction I was getting was pretty stark. I would say that 5 to 10% of oncomers were ‘flashing’ me. I will tally your opinions and go with whatever the vote says! Thanks to all you lucky Maverick owners!!!

Well.
1. Not all Maverick headlights are the same,
2. I don't understand using headlights as daytime running lights (I think they're standard on all trims?), and
3. The headlights beams are pretty potent, at least on my 2025 Lariat.

My low beams are well aimed, the auto high beams are very well adjusted, always dropping before I would have manually, and I still get flashed by some people at night.

Little did I know as I was looking at his jacket, that I was witnessing the last seconds of his life.

Yes high beams physically hurt my eyes even in daytime. There's no excuse for using during daylight.

Ya our DRL’s aren’t as bright as the MAV’s low beams! But speaking of motorcycles, most of them ride during the day with high beams on. They are very bright but I don’t blame them cause people don’t pay much attention to bikes, unfortunately.

High beams on at any time blinds drivers. Stop it, it interferes with vision and causes spots in the eyes, increasing risk across the board for them, not you! That's truly a dick thing to do.

You have a Lariat with Daytime Running Lamps, you should not need your regular lights on in the daytime. I have the same truck and I know PPL see me because of the DRL's vs my old car.
PS. I never use the High Beams because the regulars are sooooo good.

I appreciate ALL the feedback I have gotten here. I opened myself up to criticism and I have to own the fact that I have been compromising other drivers that have approached me in the past. I will make adjustments so no drivers have to see my high beams, day or night. There are a LOT of times I knock my highs down at night and I still get blasted. So many newer vehicles lamps make it tough driving at night. Never was like that decades ago. There are so many deer on the state and county roads around here, that I absolutely count on my highs to make moves that prevent collisions with them. So no, I could never give them up. I watch for deer like a hawk. Saddens me to see a few week old fawn dead. A hunter all my life, just bugs me that people are so unaware in early summer, of the little ones. Driving country roads at night, ten mph over the speed limit, is a sure recipe for deer collisions and fouled up front ends, costing thousands to repair. Will folks ever slow down at night? Never happen. But it is the right thing to do, especially right after birthing season. God Bless you all in your travels!!!!

Personally, I find daytime high beams to be distracting, if not blinding. Day or night, high beams in the eyes is dangerous...
