Hey all - I have a Lariat EB, AWD, Atlas Blue, Lux, CP 360 and Assist, SIBL D-link connection pkg that just got scheduled (!) and I have a production week of Feb 6. I switched from Hybrid to EB on 1/5 and on 1/12 got the production email. Couldn't believe it.

I didn't think I wanted the 4K towing pkg and didn't add it. Now I have 2nd thoughts and want to put it on. Is this something that can be installed after production - either by the dealer or 3rd party?

Thanks in advance for any info.

if it’s not built you can have your dealer send an amendment but it might not be accepted

but if you mean after built, no.

Thanks - that's what I was basically thinking. I may contact the dealer to see if they can try.

I speak from experience, No!

There is no chance they can get it added after the truck has been scheduled.

My dealer failed to add that option to my original order and I only found out after I saw it had been scheduled. They tried talking directly with their regional Ford Rep to get assistance and it was a flat “No can do!”

That’s how I ended up with 2 nearly identical Mavericks.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

If you got $$ anything is possible.
In this case, no, because the weight ratings on the production sticker in the door jamb will NEVER be amended, regardless of how much money he spends or how many beefed-up aftermarket parts he adds to the truck. He may make his Maverick capable of towing 10,000 pounds, but it will never be legally rated for more than 2,000...

Nothing in the question about legality. Yes he could make anything happen with a million dollars.

No dealership will.
But you can DIY for about $400.

You can make it safe and legal to pull 4000 lbs and you can make it safe and legal to stop 4000 lbs.

What is not reasonably possible is to add AWD yourself so towing more than 2k off pavement with a FWD is not recommended.
