Doesn’t that just add a tailgate lock? I have one. I want to bypass it. I don’t want to use my keys to have to open it

I don't think you can do that, unless you're willing to disconnect the power lock at the tailgate.

Might be worth keeping the key blade on you though. That way you can 1. lock the fob in and then unlock the tailgate and 2. unlock your truck if your battery/keypad shits out.

While unlocked take the access panel off and disconnect the lock.

Yea. But not all the time. Just when I’m working and need quick access to bed.

I thought there might be a setting for bypass

Other than putting a toggle switch in the tailgate harness to cut power when you want it to stay unlocked there is no "have it both ways" solution.

This would allow you to use the keypad to open the lock. Just follow your door code with 3/4 button to unlock all doors.

Seems like when I got my lariat First edition I had to change settings to get my tailgate to lock using my fob. I'll check manual when I get a chance.

Bed being separate from cab there should be a way to do this from settings.

I believe newer f250-350 and possible 150’s have the ability

Well its a unibody so technically they are not separated.

The F series does not separate this, what it has is a function to open the tail gate with your fob and it auto lowers and closes. I mean just carry your FOB on you and have a detachable lanyard to leave the rest of the keys in the truck.

just to further tame expectations even SUVs with hatch doors dont operate like that unless you have keyless access and again have your FOB on you to trigger the button.

sure technically its not separated but its a truck bed, not part of an SUV. Lots of tradesman use the bed when truck is locked
