That's the beauty of a vacuum bleeder......as long as the reservoir is topped up as you go, it's really goof-proof.

I start off by sucking out the reservoir just to the point of NOT going below the line connections, then refill with fresh fluid, and start bleeding at the brake farthest away from the booster. Work your way to the closest bleeder to finish, spending about 2-3 minutes at each bleeder, topping off as you go. Plan on using a full quart of fluid per vehicle.

Easy-peezy!
Just don't try a vacuum bleeder on drum brakes.
Please don't ask how I know this...

Sounds like a good story!

I've vacuum-bled many drum systems with no issues.

Hi folks!

My Maverick has 34,000 kilometers on it, and my Ford dealer quoted me $210 CAD for a brake maintenance service. They tell me it's a routine maintenance appointment for its current mileage.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Do you think this is overpriced, or do you think it's a reasonable deal? Or is it a cash trap?
Yes, RIP OFF.
If you're lucky you will get a tire rotation out if it.

Brakes are one of the easiest thing to do yourself. I've been driving for over two decades and have never paid anyone to do my brakes but will 100% pay someone to change my oil.
Totally agree. Brakes are one of the only things left you can do yourself. Oil change requires you to crawl under the car. But with my health issues those days are over. Got to beg my son to do any of that. Used to get oil changes for my Honda cheaper than I could buy the oil and filters.

At 18000 miles the dealer sent me a letter stating my 2022 hybrid needs brake linings. I took the truck back 3 times complaining about the grabby brakes. I never needed to use the brakes going downhill. They fixed the grabby brakes by accident. They updated and that fixed it. I now have 20000 miles on the truck but I will wait until I take it for our state inspection and have them check them. The service department does half ass work. I was told I need to break the brakes in. That's exactly what the guy told me. I am a female. I love my truck. I am afraid to take it in for the recalls.
I have a wife and a daughter and it amazes me how they both get treated when it comes to car issues. I now have them call me on the spot before they say yes to anything!! One wanted to replace the oil pan and charge $300! The other said the valve cover gasket was leaking....$350! It wasn't leaking, but I replaced it at the cost of $20 and a smiling daughter. I feel for you!!

I checked with my dealer today while I was in for service/recalls. Their price is $95 per axles $190 plus tax. That is for removing the calipers, cleaning, lubricating slides seals etc. They recommend every 2 yrs or 24000 km. The brakes , condition, pad thickness , tires and rotation are all done as part of the "works' oil change. It's probably more important on a hybrid when the calipers aren't used as much (regenerative braking).
The 'Report Card' from today's service indicates the pad thickness remaining is 10mm front and 8mm rear. don't know what they started at.

For the original poster thread, pricing is comparable $210 - 190 Canadian $, If you can't or physically unable to do the work, you decide on the value.
