Yeah cold and wet brakes can be quite noisy, but once they’re warmed up they are quiet

Are you hearing the groaning noise consistently?

No. Letting off after a stop. Service writer where i bought it said it's do to the metal in the pads. Nothing they can do. I think he meant under warranty. With 6,000 miles, it has subsided a lot.

I've heard rumors (involving other vehicles) where upgrading to ceramic pads can help this stiction issue if it bothers you enough...

The problem is that the factory pads are hygroscopic, and when cold and damp they will groan. Its normally worse in reverse, as the anti-squeal shims are only set up for forward motion. Aftermarket pads do not do this. If it still does this after a few miles and are warmer, then maybe you have a stuck brake that needs the sliders re-lubricating.

I have heard this when backing out of the garage on a cool and/or damp morning. But not very often, and it always goes away.

Somewhat. Happens at very low speeds (creeping).

Shouldn't have to upgrade brake pads.

After approx. 13,500 miles, the BCG is about 90% gone (for now). Must have worn down the metal in the pads. What a relief.
