surprisengly enough under the right conditions it seems that zinc can harm the part it was supposed to product,it is higher on the electromotive scale( its supposed to be a sacrificial anode of sorts) have seen stacked stacked galvanized steel pinhole, the proper stainless steel would be a much better deal
Having mixed and matched exhaust parts on different vehicles in the past, I would advise against that. Each manufacturer seems to use a slightly different steel, and when you put them together electrolytic differences mean they rot out real fast.
