I need to hear this.
Have anything more than that 1 second clip?
Hows it compare to straight piped, no muffler?

What was this 2nd cut? Did you have to shorten something?
The forum “attach file” won’t let me load sound clips longer than a few seconds. Probably the way my files are stored on my ancient IPhone.

Straight piped sounded better & more subdued than the “polyphonic” “enhancement” lol. It is really atrocious! The folks who aren’t running away when I approach are saying WTF!

The instructions had me make a cut right after the muffler on the cat side. Turns out the cut needs to be about 14inches further up the OEM pipe.

Borla has updated the photo on their website since I called them last week. Hopefully they will update the instructions too. Well, hopefully they will put the product on hold until it is tuned appropriately for the 2025 EB!

I’m going to call Borla on Monday morning before going to my local muffler shop for Magnaflow “surgery”.

FYI - I just sent this note to Borla on their website feedback/question page.

“I recently purchased part# 140948BC for my 2025 Ford Maverick Lobo. Jim Click Ford, my local Ford dealer, recommended, ordered, and delivered to me for installation.
Upon installation, I noticed that the product did not match the pictures or instructions. I called Ryan in CS and he asked me to send pictures. Emails did not go through.

Anyway, I figured out the additional cut required & installed.

My test drive was horrendous. Incredible cabin drone that caused my dash to rattle & my ears to hurt. Exterior sound was echoing off my neighbors houses at low rpm’s. Giving it the beans was scary explosive.

Took my truck to the local high performance muffler shop where they were surprised that Borla let this product ship! Anyway, I’m having them remove the polyphonic bit & replace with a Magnaflow muffler…

Mind to share the Magnaflow muffler specs

Just measured my MRT:
14" inlet to outlet.
Straight through.
Oval, 5"x6"

At least your not going with the Old-man Suitcase Magnaflow, your solution should still allow it to make some noise. ;)

Is that a 2.5" in and out to fit your pipe?

Can you post your video somewhere, and share it?

Yep, 2.5 in/out. The muffler shop ordered it & will weld it in. I’ll listen to it before they weld - but I expect an improvement.

I already deleted my straight pipe sound clip. Sounded nice, lumpy low growl:) I’ll make a cabin noise recording on my drive to the 2 mile away muffler shop though. In case Dave Borla or his engineers need to hear.

Ok, my final verdict on the Borla Type 3 clamp-on catback exhaust I installed: Thumbs Up! (with a modification)

Alone it was WAY too loud & droned painfully at most rpm’s. Two neighbors politely made note - so I can only imagine the chagrin of the other dozen neighbors who did not confront me.

So I clamped on an additional small resonator/muffler and now it sound wonderful. Deep & low pitched not raspy LOUD. I can now hear the blaring radios of other drivers as I accelerate from a stop again. Traffic sounds are now audible & I can hear my fake engine sounds again yay:)

The 5in wide/22in long Magnaflow muffler was too long to fit on the Borla - so I used a smaller one found on Amazon. Pic below:

I do not have the equipment or talent to weld, so I clamped it on. Probably will visit a muffler shop to weld into place someday.

I'm glad you found a muffler that would make this livable, in the past I've had really good luck with the Vibrant Ultra Quiet Resonator (it really isn't ultra quiet) for killing drone and taming obnoxious noise levels.

The Vibrant Ultra Quiet was my choice but could not find a 2.5in. This knockoff looks like it is a Vibrant though. Good quality.

I live in a town with many V8 Trucks with aftermarket exhaust. Also many V8 Mustangs with upgraded exhaust systems. They all sound wonderful!

Occasionally, however, I’m behind a 4 banger EB Mustang with an aftermarket exhaust. They sound embarrassingly feeble & farty in comparison to all the V8 trucks & cars.

I am a bit concerned about an embarrassing sound from my Maverick. I do embarrass easy.

My backup plan would be to have a muffler shop weld in MagnaFlow muffler where the Borla “muffler” is. A $180 muffler that has received high praise by a couple of forum members & soundclips on YouTube confirm.

Anyway, going to install next week & hear 👂

Finished the install of the Borla Type 3 catback today - and the days of hearing “fake engine” sounds are over. Delete the muffler = real engine sounds take over.

I drive in silence (no radio etc) and have enjoyed the “piped in” engine sound. I drive almost entirely in manual mode using the paddles. The cool fake engine sounds I heard were not the sounds the folks outside heard. They heard the quiet regular muffled Maverick.

No longer. Both me & the folks outside hear the “Polyphonic Harmonizer”. It is like my private fake engine noise is now on external bed mounted speakers.

I’ve only done a short couple miles of traffic lights so far. This setup may be too aggressive sounding for shy little me. I’m taking a long twisty turny ride tomorrow out in the sticks - I’ll see how that goes!

I just chopped my stock exhaust and it sounds fine 🙂. I know my 5.0 / 7.3 aspirations don't match my pocket book.

I tend to agree with you. As someone who grew up in the V8 muscle car era, 4- and 6-cylinder engines with loud exhaust sound like crap overall in my opinion.

Exactly - the loudness is the key for me. A 4 cylinder aftermarket exhaust should sound like half of a 8 cylinder with aftermarket dual exhaust.

When the 4 cylinder exhaust tries to be as loud as an 8 - it becomes way too “distorted”.

Anyway, I’ve gotten my 4 cylinder Turbo 2.0L to have the low rumble of one exhaust side of a normally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 with dual exhaust. Half a Coyote.

When we depart a stop light side by side - we’ll sound the same but the V8 will have two “speakers” to my one. V8 will be louder - but we will be playing the same song:)
