This is a funny thread. It seems the average age of a Maverick owner is about 80.

This whole discussion appears to be taking place in an assisted living facility.

Passengers have been in cars for a really long time as well. That’s what those extra seats are for.
It would have been easy to post a bitter response to some of the more "snarky" replies to your initial post, but you handled this with class and calm, so I respect you for that. My suggestion of finding the clicker module (I have no idea where it might be, but you should be able to find it under the dash by listening closely) and finding some type of sound limiting material to wrap around it to hopefully deaden the sound was an honest reply. Good luck.
At the time of my initial post, I considered if there is an actual blinker relay, or if it is tone generated through the audio system. I see responses on both possibilities, thus my inquiry. And it seems others have had the same response from folks on the other end of the line.

Now, I wonder how many of the responders really are thinking about their blinker fluid. Maybe just for the fun factor I'll start a thread asking what is the milage interval for changing that fluid......:)

The blinker noise is probably not from a mechanical flasher since the flasher sound can be replaced by door chimes, and the blinker is still active. Aren't CAN Busses wonderful?

If you're waiting in line to turn, just turn your blinker on when its your turn to turn.. or turn up your call volume when its not your turn to talk so in turn, you can hear better and get turned up

I never noticed the sound of the blinkers being overly loud until I started using hearing aids. With the hearing aids, the loud clicking sound of the blinkers really stands out to me now. At 58, it was not my first choice to wear them, but I am really surprised at the different sounds I had not been hearing well or completely missing and would not go back.

Everybody kept telling me that I needed them. So, I got them, but didn't tell anybody. Now, I hear EVERYTHING and have changed my will FOUR times!!!

That’s totally not true. There have been polls on MTC about how old forums users are. The median age is about 55, not 80.
55 year olds are Gen X.
80 year olds are the silent generation.

That's a median though.

While the "I've lowered my Mav and blacked out the headlights " posts might lean to the younger section of the users that make up this forum, the "my blinker is too loud and I can't hear Ethel on the phone" group might be on the back end of that median there.

But this topic is about Ethel complaining from the other end that the blinker is too loud over the phone.

And I figured the crack about the average age being 80 was a slam at people telling the OP that driving is more important than talking on the phone.

That’s not true either. Older forum users aren’t going to complain about the blinker being too loud because they have so much hearing loss, that it doesn’t seem loud to them.
It’s going to be young people that perceive the blinker as being too loud.
