The only reason I am thinking about it is because my local discount tire will give me $100 each for the continentals. So I could toss in $50 a tire and have a better driving experience and for much longer with a nice Michelin.
That is a great deal as your new tires will last a lot longer and for only $50 a tire to upgrade seems like a steal.

I've been happy with the Goodyear Assurance MaxLife on my corolla. They're not much cheaper than the Michelin, but score a bit higher on TireRack. Here's their comps on Tirerack: Standard Touring All-Season Ratings Charts for 225/65-17 Tire Size (tirerack.com)
Looks like if you want to go much cheaper, you're mostly giving up snow performance (I've been satisfied with the Goodyear's winter performance in MN).

Count me in for Michelin's Defender or Premier. I purchased them from Costco when they run their specials. I have very happy with them on my SUVs.

I didn't look into that. Sounds like a good move. (y)

just the stock XLT continentals that will come with the hybrid (when it comes). I will be curious to see how they perform. My problem is I will probably burn through them in 1.5-2 years.
What are these stock Continental XLT tires rated in miles of life?

I like the Cross Climate 2s currently on my Jetta. I plan to put them on my Enclave this summer when it's tires need to be replaced.

Yep, I don’t know if it was luck of the draw or if standard but I got Michelins on mine from the factory

Yea the Lariat trims came with Michelins on the 18 inch rims I believe. I plan on trying out the defender2 when these continentals wear out.

Michelin CrossClimate 2s have been absolutely amazing in the snow for me, and are also significantly quieter than the stock Scorpions. They are on the expensive side and guaranteed for 60k miles, but they give you a reasonably quiet ride, decent handling and snow-tire comparable snow performance in an all season tire.
I am seriously considering taking off and selling <1k mile Scorpions to replace them with CrossClimate 2s.
