Since I picked up my hyb Mav, I've been getting 47.4 on normal mode; currently have 13,500 miles. Every so often I switch to sport mode though. (in Hawaii)

PERFECT explanation!! I am having the exact same experience with my 2022 XLT Hybrid. Cold weather and short trips(and first drive in the morning) are tough on your MPGs. I was getting much better mileage in the summer and early fall. BTW, I have 22,200mi on my Maverick. The secret to long term fuel economy is to avoid short trips where the truck never fully warms up. The Maverick because the ICE operates so little, can take several miles to reach normal operating temperature. Until it does your gas mileage will be reduced. More noticeable in cold weather, not so much when it's hot.
Switching to eco will help. Probably 2 mpg. Thanks so much … I’m wondering if switching to eco or slippery mode might help… didn’t try that? …been seeing some folks referring to that … not critical but just curious if I can boost my mpg ..
I tried eco mode once, didn't hate it, didn't love it. The maverick drives better in it's standard mode.Yes I am only eco mode, running average 40mph
Too bad Ford screwed up and doesn’t just have it in that mode . Give us the the option to switch it to other modes and five buttons to get there. What a shame.
As my grandfather would say, let them go around you. My car has far more value to me than that of some asshole following me. I live in Utah, so I'm used to drivers being really idiotic and rude, it doesn't bother me as much as it used to.One thing I struggle with is slow acceleration, and I'm also curious about how important it is for fuel economy on the hybrid. If I was just alone on the road I wouldn't really care about accelerating slowly, but if I'm going from a dead stop to a 50mph posted speed limit I can't stand the people who tail me if I'm light on the gas peddle.
I don’t think that a “short” 507 miles will give you a good “average”. I mean I can do a screen shot of my Hybrid getting 99.9 mpg. It’s not realistic.Use the EV coach to stay in electric mode when feasible. I mostly use Eco mode.
My average is 43mpg after 25,000 miles.
Current tank, probably 30/70 highway/city.

Not realistic!I got 52.8 over 115 miles of ride share driving without even trying. Highway driving kills your averages.
BooooooWhich is exactly why Ford needs to produce a PHEV version.
So this is a really odd, and strange question. But the EV coach function is always running in the background, even if you can't see it. But just to be sure, there's nothing about having the more complex EV coach display going at all times that's going to drain the truck's 12V battery quicker is there? I know I'm going to be mocked for asking that, but I'm just curious.EV Coach is one of the main display modes you can select. It shows a horizontal bar that tells you if you are charging, electric or hybrid while moving. It lets you adjust your driving to stay electric as long as possible.
The brake efficiency thing is separate. I don't remember what it's called, but I know you can turn it off.
I leave my Maverick in “Eco” mode, but still get to 75 mph or more on the merge ramp. One thing I struggle with is slow acceleration, and I'm also curious about how important it is for fuel economy on the hybrid. If I was just alone on the road I wouldn't really care about accelerating slowly, but if I'm going from a dead stop to a 50mph posted speed limit I can't stand the people who tail me if I'm light on the gas peddle.
Anyone claiming to get 40+ MPG is lying, or pretending that the dash report is correct. This is silly. If you get 35.5 mpg, BE HAPPY! What other truck can do that?In my new maverick lariat hybrid at the 1000 mile mark with a mixture of city and highway driving I’m getting about 35mpg. I’ve had some folks report on YouTube and chat rooms crazy numbers like 45mpg etc. am I missing something? Does my driving generally suck or are there better ways to improve fuel economy?![]()
How?I got 52.8 over 115 miles of ride share driving without even trying. Highway driving kills your averages.
Accelerating too slowly will ding your mileage almost as much as doing it too fast. Best practice is to get up to speed fairly quickly, then let off the throttle to drop it into electric mode. I keep up with traffic just fine, and still get 43-45 mpg.One thing I struggle with is slow acceleration, and I'm also curious about how important it is for fuel economy on the hybrid. If I was just alone on the road I wouldn't really care about accelerating slowly, but if I'm going from a dead stop to a 50mph posted speed limit I can't stand the people who tail me if I'm light on the gas peddle.
