I just looked at this on amazon and I don't know if I am ready to pay a bit over $80.00 for a hitch with a welding job that to me does not look that good.I use an adjustable hitch too...Curt 45901.

Not to mention, if used in that orientation, the dent you'll get in the tailgate,,,,,,I just looked at this on amazon and I don't know if I am ready to pay a bit over $80.00 for a hitch with a welding job that to me does not look that good.
Amazon for 28.37 to my door for free ...Go to Harbor Freight and get yourself something. Cheap and work just fine.
I personally like this double-sided bar that is only $20 and includes both 1 7/8 and 2 inch balls. Works great.Amazon for 28.37 to my door for free ...

Harbor Freight 16.00 plus 8 to 10 ball plus 4 for the pin equals 28 to 30, and a 15 mile round trip when I have time.

I have plenty of clearance with the tailgate down using the hitch as pictured. Not to mention, if used in that orientation, the dent you'll get in the tailgate,,,

Good to hear. After I got my truck, I measured something like 4-1/4" from the top of the 2" opening to the Ford logo, so I'm surprised to hear that with the Curt #49501 inserted with the "tall" end up, it clears. Thanks for the correction.I have plenty of clearance with the tailgate down using the hitch as pictured.
I do like that idea. Simple. With the top of the receiver right at 20" off the ground without a load it would seem as though I might not have to need a rise or drop. I do not own a trailer and since my FWD is limited to a 2000 pound load I would probably use a u-haul or it's equivalent 4 X 7 or 5 x 8 trailer if needed and for these u-haul at least says "must not exceed maximum allowable hitch ball height 25" and require either a 1 7/8 or 2 inch ball."I personally like this double-sided bar that is only $20 and includes both 1 7/8 and 2 inch balls. Harbor Freight Dual Hitch Bar
It's rated for 5,000 pounds -- more than you'll ever tow with your Mav.I do like that idea. Simple. And, they have one in stock at the store I would go to. For strength, though, I wish the ball end had a steel plate of the open end.
Got one yesterday!!It's rated for 5,000 pounds -- more than you'll ever tow with your Mav.
