This didn’t work. I opened the cooler today to find water inside. My car cover and car cover storage bag were wet. I had power washed the bed a couple days ago without removing the cooler first. Needless to say the cooler is not waterproof.

Interesting 🤔.

I wonder if the pressure and new fangled high speed cacameme water lifted the lid while you were cleaning and allowed water in?

Hole?

Did you have your cover closed?

Couple clarification questions:

Are you saying that the power washing is what led to water being everywhere?

If so, are you now concerned about it not drying out appropriately or that it made it into the cooler?

If power washing isn't the problem, are you saying everything doesn't seem to be waterproof in general?

Is it possible that the height of the cooler is *just barely* too tall and didn't let the gaskets on the bed cover seal properly?

But also, the physics of this just doesn't make sense to me. If it's not the power washing, I don't know how anything would drip in the vicinity of the cooler. It would drip along the edges and down the side. My brain is spinning, needless to say.

Are there latches on the sides of the cooler? Coolers without latches and a rubber seal aren't usually waterproof and the lid sits on top of the cooler body, rather than overlapping the body as most storage trunks do.

Just because the pressure washer forced water into the cooler doesn't mean the cooler isn't "weather proof" though. Even the hardest, blowing rain shouldn't make it's way in like direct pressure will. You may never get any water in there if you just avoid hitting it with pressurized water.

It took me a little while to figure it out. Yes using the power washer isn’t the problem. I just have to avoid aiming the water steam at the seam between the cooler base and the lid or remove the cooler during a bed wash. I may add latches just to be safe.
And to answer @Wilklersticks the cooler sits 1 inch below the cover.

I believe you are right. The pressure lifted the lid and allowed the water in. There are no holes.

Yes. Keep the pressurized spray away from the lid.

water got in because I didn’t use common sense. Don’t aim pressurized water at the lid of the cooler.

I may add a thin gasket and latches.
When you install the latches you'll have to make holes for the screws so just inject a little silicone in the holes before putting the screws in. Or for a simple work around, bungee cord the lid nice and snug.

After I close the tailgate everything should stay dry.

Hmmm = brain spinning = I am 82 and eat 1 or 2 Brazil nuts about 8 pm and 2 walnuts about 8 am everyday = helps recall/focus and circulation by reducing inflammation. 🤗
