Ford needs to post a diy video on how to install roof rails on the mav. That's my main disappointment in the mav. Or come out with a Ford/dealer installed roof rails kit. I'm about ready to buy a trailer for my kayaks! I detest those crappy clap on roof rail kits!!Or you could look at Ford's DIY video on YouTube shows you how to make your own from parts from your local hardware store cheaper than the dealer
I think I'll wait until my truck arrives. I need to see it to see if it's worth getting. I'm just trying to get the truck I orginally orderedOr you could look at Ford's DIY video on YouTube shows you how to make your own from parts from your local hardware store cheaper than the dealer
I do believe Ford has them on their accessories website sells roof racks for the MaverickFord needs to post a diy video on how to install roof rails on the mav. Yes, those are the clamp on rails kits. I'd much rather have the built in rails with the clamp on cross bars. Buying the Thule clamp on rails, crossbars and j-hooks for 2 kayaks pushes the cost over $1,000. So if I'm gonna spend that much, I'd rather pick up a used trailer 6x12 and have more versatility.I do believe Ford has them on their accessories website sells roof racks for the Maverick
A lot of people are buying the bedrail system but same problem you gotta shell out close to a Grand to get it set up the way you want it. That's the price you pay when we get a truck with a Microscopic bedYes, those are the clamp on rails kits. I'd much rather have the built in rails with the clamp on cross bars. I ordered some clamp on rails and j-bars which didn't fit well together so I sent them all back. 2 weeks later I heard on the local news someone was killed by a kayak coming loose from another vehicle. I'm not taking a chance on poorly fitting cheap outfits or spending a ton on a well fitting, clucky, clamp on kit so the trailer will most likely win out
Yeah... When I ordered the maverick, didn't know I was also ordering a boat (Break Out Another Thousand)A lot of people are buying the bedrail system but same problem you gotta shell out close to a Grand to get it set up the way you want it. Looks good. Thanks for the template. What did you use for the screws? Assume flat head machine screw, length and thread?I made my own with commercial grade aircraft style L track. About $100
Stainless steel 90° countersink torx metric screws. I dont remember the MM # I used. Since front screw mounts are smaller thread. I did 2 screws instead one, and you just remove the cleats to install the track. I also made some end caps from .040" stainless steel. I had to spend $18 for a 90° countersink bit for the drill press to countersink these. Aircraft flush fasteners are 100° and 130° .Looks good. Thanks for the template. What grade of aluminum did you use, 2024-T3? Also, what grade is the SS, 304? Were the rails anodized? Thanks.I made my own with commercial grade aircraft style L track. About $100
Stainless steel doesnt rust. I will grease them up with CorBan 27L before installing them anyways. Anybody else can use anti seize. I dont plan on removing them.Would think since is going to zinc coated steel that a galvanized screw would be better no?
