FYI unless it’s a huge national bedliner company you aren’t going to get much $ from a shop that made $500 off your project
See what they’ll give you and put it towards a professional paint correction and coating
With a color like that it’ll be well worth the money spent (professional correction and coating will cost north of a grand most likely, with exceptions of course)
Cyber Orange is worthy of that service
The shop should be insured and his business insurance should cover it. Take it to a professional body shop to get repaired, make sure you are comfortable with their reputation and quality of work. Get REFERENCES!!!

This is an aftermarket bed liner, not factory.

Since posting, the bed liner installer called me back and said he could fix it with diluted methanol and a plastic razor blade. I pushed back against that idea since the extent of the over spray covers such a large area and I am uncomfortable having him wipe the paint with methanol. I have no idea what that will do to the clear coat and honestly I'm not even sure if that will fix the overspray that isn't visible as black flecks but felt as roughness on the surface.
Whatever you do make sure the following two things happen..............

1. The bed liner installer never gets to touch your truck again.
2. He pays for the fix from an estimate of your choosing.

Find a professional paint correction service. In my opinion I would not want anyone experimenting on the fresh paint.

Any reputable company should have insurance to cover their screwups. Methanol is one of the main components of PAINT STRIPPER, I wouldn't use that on a new vehicles paint.

A few things to note. If you choose to not let them have the opportunity to correct the mistake, then you better make sure they are willing to pay the other party for correction.

You have to agree that the spray liner company knows how to remove overspray. Your vehicle can not be the only one that this has happened to. I’m sure it happens all the time.

I would suggest taking the truckback to them on a nice sunny day and have them look at the extent of the overspray. If it is as bad as you say they might also agree this is a job better suited for someone else and they may already have someone.

Not giving them the opportunity to correct this is only going to complicate the issue.

Hope it all works out.

I would let the installer be the first person to try and fix their mistake.

Let the person know you want the truck to look the same as it did before the bed liner was install and if it's not, you'll then proceed to a paint correction shop at the expense of the installer.

Put this in WRITING.

Hopefully you paid with a credit card and can dispute the charge . this can be done within 30 days of charge and gives you leverage . if you can't come to some kind of recourse from the shop report to better business Bureau which may help with settlement . if all else fails it is small claims court time .

Can you follow up to the outcome of this? I’m dealing with this situation right now too.
