AND I imagine this belongs on another thread, but why is this so cheap?
To get a 4 door Tacoma with the same equipment for under $30K you have to buy a 2015 w/150,000 miles. And having paid over $5K for recent repairs and maintenance on my Toyota and wife's Lexus - I don't want another high mileage Toyotas! Had a '93 ranger and 99 F150 before and both started and ran everyday - that's all I really need.

good! thanks - do you think the co-pilot is worth the cost?
And I agree with you on the alloy wheels - very boring these days. I miss my high school US slotted polished rims w/60 series T/As on my yellow, w/red pin strips El Camino! Car looked awesome in a world of steel wheels w/crappy hubcaps!
For me the Co-Pilot is absolutely worth the price. First, you should be able to get an insurance decrease with it on your truck. It wasn't a lot, but it was something to consider. That means it will pay for itself in about four years or so. Second, you get power side mirrors with blind spot warning lights with the Co-Pilot. This feature alone is great in traffic. Third, there are other features that I'm enjoying like the lane keeping with warning and gentle correction.

CP360 is only worth the cost on XL if you:

1. Are a "safety" nut.
2. Want/Need power exterior mirrors.
3. Want/Need sliding rear window.
4. All of the above.

Or if you want a full-sized spare.

It is really quite a deal.

My exact build except I went with Cactus Gray. My only complaint so far is not having cruise control. There is a thread of a company getting ready to release aftermarket cruise control that I am excited about.
I miss not having cruise control too, but the Rostra solution will cost 300 if I DIY it, and needs to have the plastic shroud cut. When I'm done I will have cruise on a stalk, which is ok, but I would prefer a solution with controls on the wheel and a digital display on the IP. I'm hoping for a Forscan with retrofit OEM buttons solution.

CAFE standards and those fat margins on F150's. Just a little bit about Ford wanting to get into the cuv/crossover market too i guess.

You do not get an insurance discount for Co-Pilot 360 options. All actual safety features that would give insurance discounts are included in all models by default.
I guess it depends on details like company, state, etc. My insurance quoted less for an XL with Co-Pilot than without. Not a lot, but it was about $11/month.

On an XL we do not get the sliding window unless we pay extra for it.

Right, but it does not even turn on as an option until you buy CP360. 👍

Get Silver over White. Still hides dirt well but doesn’t look like a work truck. You will appreciate that when you are looking for it in parking lots and when you go to sell/trade it.
there have been multiple studies done over the decades that show Silver cars are in the most accidents and mainly due to low visibility of them by other drivers. It tends to blend into the environment in people's vision. No I don't have any current links to post on this. It's just been conventional wisdom, same as Red cars getting the most tickets. National highway traffic safety institute may have some data archives and/or insurance companies?

I've had a lot of White vehicles over the years and they always seemed to me to appear more like a "current" model for more years than other colors- totally subjective. I initially was going for Oxford White on my XL as I like the contrast of all the Black trim front to back along lower part of the vehicle, but I just can't get to love the front end styling. Butterface :D I have no intention of trading or selling mine- ever- before I can't drive anymore, so resale value doesn't affect my thinking at all.

Once I started to see some real life pictures of Carbonized Gray and spun it around 360 degrees on the configurator it seemed to tie everything together really well and the face was less prominent, so I chose Carbonized Gray and I understand that hides dirt longer too...

I'm a simple old man. I plan to order my Maverick this Friday and I think all I want is:
  • AWD base model (white) - which gives me turbo 2.0 engine
  • Steel wheels
  • Tow package (for the bigger radiator and receiver)
  • 110v outlet in the cab
and that's it.
Is this the right way to do this?
Will I wish I'd gone with more creature comfort items?
Optimal selection if you want to get your vehicle picked up for build ASAP you could also add the copilot 360, sliding rear window (for transporting long objects )and it won’t hold up anything..
This is what I did, XL Model,2X picked up super quick for build date..

You are so right about quick build date when understanding what is holding up orders. I ordered Oct 6 and it was delivered Nov 9.
XL, 2.0 EB, Co-Pilot, Moonroof, hitch, 120V outlet, full size spare (sorta), dealer added spray-in Bed liner, and provided a bug screen, soft tonneau, remote start fob, and a security system for me to install. Still need to install security system, SiriusXM Commander Touch, and Cruise when available.

Get the 360 safety package. Its great for your blind spots and gives you power mirrors on the XL trim package.

Wow. $11/mo almost pays for CP360 in 4 years. I bought it for the blind spot protection and power mirrors without realizing it could literally pay for itself. Sweet.
