According to most growth charts, the average height of a 5-year-old child is around 42.5 inches.

A four to five year old child is the most likely to slip out of their parents control in a parking lot.
Even waiting behind your truck for their parent to catch up.

Twisted we are at times :’P

I use all three, the camera, my mirrors and I’m still healthy enough to turn and look around.

BLISS goes off if a gnat farts a hundred yards behind my truck.
Unfortunately if a child is just standing behind your truck BLISS won't alarm.
Are all Maverick's equipped with BLISS or was that in an option package?

9 times out of ten I pull into a spot and pull forward so when I go to leave I'm driving out forward so I can see everything better. Then I don't have to worry about some little kid being behind my truck and I hit them and then I damage my truck. Oh, I mean and then the poor kid gets hurt. Yeah that's what I meant.

Yes, I believe it is a function of the rear cross traffic/ pedestrian alter system that is part of the package. I know a good number of people in 2021/2022 removed co-pilot from their orders because it was a major source of production delays during COVID. I didn't order it for that reason, and I like the little blind spot mirrors. When I had a '22 Ford Escape as a loner, while my Maverick was in for recall work, I found BLISS to be very hit and miss, I for one would not trust it.

Ya, That is true about standing behind a vehcle, waiting for the parents to catchup..
Because , I like my ride. I will park 99 & 44/100ths % of the time a few spaces from others.
A open view...
When the lot has, "filled Up" and I see a child near by. I have stepped out and taken one last look before backing out. ;)

The ass end of my truck sits higher than the front and with the additional height of the soft cover I have a hard time even seeing a car if it is close to my bumper. Side mirrors are great to make sure you don't clip something to the left or right when backing but a (working) camera is a godsend as far as I am concerned.

To answer the question how far back are you blind with just mirrors? I have a small trailer that is in total 6ft in length (including the hitch). It's a short trailer 4-5ft tall and 4.8ft wide, it is only visible in my mirrors when I take a 90º corner. Now apply that to a child, or pet behind your vehicle, that's all you need to know about why backup cameras became mandatory.

Next time I was in town. I was thinking about going to uhaul.
And see if they would allow me to hookup to some of their low open trailers just to see how visible they are behind the truck.
