Lift Springs for the win -
I don't even have a lift and the boot is leaking, also, what makes you think the lift springs don't introduce similar axle angle issues? (I'll give you a hint, they do)

Also, the clamp isn't even clamped down properly, way to go Ford suppliers......

Springs are better than spacers but not because the CVs. A 2" spacer lift produces the same angles as a 2"spring lift.

I read an earlier in-depth assessment on how the spacer vs spring achieves the ride height increase and it seemed that the springs were a lot less problematic to the other related suspension parts but I am not the expert.

I zoomed in on the photo from page 1 and look at what I found! Like I said, that clamp is not properly fastened, it should be flat on top and I feel like the bottom part should be butted together. Maybe this is some corporate sabotage for a competing product? :ROFLMAO: You can also see the "KMC" which I believe is for Kia Motor Company

Hi, I believe that band clamp is tightened as much as possible (for that clamp). It appears the inner (bottom) hooks of the band band are tight against the (2) windows on the top portion (touching the left side of your red circle). I don’t think that an attempt to re-crimp would help. Perhaps a different clamp.?

That also doesn’t appear to be a traditional (Dorman, etc.) boot clamp. They are generally flat on top until the tool crushes/tightens it. That clamp pictured is completely round on top (yellow paint).

Good luck...

Home - KMC RUBBER

Its a rubber company. As for the clamp it appears it was checked twice, by the same person. So my thought is. Guy A says to next on the line Guy B "do you think I got that clamp right?". Guy B says "lemme see it and stops the belt moving". Then Guy C says "whats up man?" Guy B is always annoyed by Guy C being all "company" so he can get a damn $0.15 raise and just says "nothing all good". Then Guy B tells Guy A "just mark it dude". Guy A is newer and in the confusion forgets that he already marked it once, rushes, misses the normal mark. Sends it down to Guy B who just glances at it and shakes his head as he wraps it in that moisture drawing paper. Guy C puts it in the stack. Down the line you find it leaking after simply touching it while doing the lift.

Thats generally how minor manufacturing defects go. Question is how many go bad before they check at the plant and find out that guy A isnt even on clamps any more, he got moved over to grease because Guy C got the line lead job and moved him.

Okay but it clearly has "Hyundai" molded into it. Also, from my experience with these clamps the tool required for installing has an anvil that drops down as the bottom part is pinched together and it flattens the top I'm guessing for better strength. These clamps are not great anyway and supposedly the tension fold over style is superior but I'm not surprised to see that Ford skimped on yet another part of the Maverick. I would hope that part of the Tremor upgraded half shafts include better CV boots and clamps. Lastly, from a production standpoint, if your assessment is correct, having two different QC people with the same color QC marker would be the dumbest process ever.

Also, you're incorrect and so was I, KMC doesn't have anything like that listed on it's product page and I found out that the mark actually reads KHC, it's a Hyundai Kia part.....I found out because I was researching to see if leaking CV boots are a common problem with Hyundai products.

Well they do share alot of small parts between manufacturers as an AMC owner I know. As for the QC guy. One guy had the pen but he was clamping and marking that day, and he was newer. Maybe not even a full hire yet. I did alot of QC as a temp, the blame game is easier that way. My last job in manufacturing treadmills, at 6 months they gave me the final assembly for the frames. Had like 12 checks on it and was the most complex. All the hired on guys who were there for years had simpler easy jobs(their pick). There was a change once and I was given the wrong instructions for how a tab was supposed to be bent and we built about 1000 frames that way, when the plastics didnt fit they all came back with about 5 corporate suits in hard hats(not even required PPE lol). Who all watched me, who wasnt even hired on yet, do the final build for about a dozen frames. Supervisors had me tell em I had been there for a couple years lol. To this day I cant fathom where all those treadmills went. 132 a day per shift, 2 shifts, 6 days a week for years. One model, for one brand!

Wow so we have Hyundai Kia parts on our trucks……. I know at this point it probably won’t do me any good but the next time I go in for an oil change I’m gonna bring it up and see if they will cover it. Maybe the new replacement axle would have a different style clamp?
